You could have added this to the thread already started... same message.

I think it's important enough to deserve it's own thread, but I'll let the mods deal with it.

Honestly there should be a thread every 5 minutes about how critical it is to remove that cancerous piece of garbage.

LOL, yeah. Its been a hot topic on here since this board started. I used to run the fire swasey brigade. Good luck.

BC from 2000-2005 we weren't soft....oh and if Miami had Nick Saban as HC instead of Shannon and Goldie then there would be no issues to discuss.

No one is this stupid, are they???

If Saban would have been here he would have been paid accordingly as well as his support staff. Meaning there would have been an upgrade in S&C.

How do u know? We can do much worse than Swasey.... He may not be best of the best but hes still very good. a Saban led UM program would have us dominating w/ Swasey as S&C coach regardless

Common sense, logic. You should give it a try.

The LOGIC is weak with this one lol

Let's also remember that employees under bad supervisors are going to be bad. Employees under good leaders will have better direction and achieve more.

Alabama Crimson Tide strength coach Scott Cochran is Nick Saban's secret weapon

Go ahead and tell me how Swasey has nothing to do with 10+ years of being soft. How he couldn't possibly have an effect on the mentality of the team. How he's not actually "a coach" and therefore he is free from the same criticism that say a HC or coordinator would get.

Then read that article and try to tell me again.....

The point is that we've got bigger fish to fry, stop acting like this has to be done first or all is lost.

The bigger issue with Swasey is he doesn't even have a degree in his field. Thats like asking and admin specialist to be an engineer. It doesn't work. Has nothing to do with who the HC is.

It is being worked in parallel as it should be. It is as important. Why do you think the top schools pay so much for it...

So, I'm guessing you don't realize lots of S&C coaches are former athletes who majored in something other than the S&C field?

Having a degree in the field is not required, and it has little to do with how good the program is.

Knock Swasey for the results over the past decade. No argument from me. But people who gripe about him having a sociology degree are reaching. If it was his first year, yeah, the degree matters. But after 20 years in an industry, his experience should trump a degree.

And I'm not a Swasey supporter ... Just suggesting the degree argument be put to sleep.

I'd like to see the offseason programming at Bama and LSU and compare to Miami's.

The program needs a S&C coach to properly evaluate the strengths, weakness, and potential of each individual athlete and program accordingly. The S&C coaches make the player a better athlete. The position coaches make the better athlete a better football player.

No more Chickillo nonsense where a player is bulked up to play a role despite a body type to the contrary.

Swasey has been another YesMan to Shannon and Golden. New blood is needed.

Those that usually dismiss education are the uneducated.

Cochran received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from LSU in 2001 and added a master’s degree in sports management from LSU in 2003. Thats just one. Typically people leading their field have an education in it.

Which is fine, I see no reason to keep the guy.

That said, it isn't just as important. This is the nature of competition. You hire the best HC and somebody hires a better OC. So you get a great OC and they get a better DC. Eventually (if the NCAA would allow) you'd have Alabama paying some guy $1 million per year to coach only the second string QB. There's so much money involved that teams compete on the smallest points in order to win.

Let me clarify a bit better. Being this time of year starting the offseason workouts, I think it is AS important at this stage.
