Remind me again how Mario is not good enough for us?

How are we in any place to be selective?

"I won't take a 10-win coach because I'm worried he can't get us to 12." We just ******* went 7-6 and are about to be 6-7 in back to back years.
I don’t want some stop gap. If Mario continues his success but one good season doesn’t make a coach. What happened to Mario last year? Team wasn’t much different

There we will also be 2-3 more years of data on Mario before Manny gets canned too. If he wins ten games again, it would be hard to find a candidate with a better resume.

Anyone who wouldn’t take him after what he did this year is a fool.

He might not be elite, but he’s very good and in the ACC Coastal with our recruiting pool, that’s more than enough.

Thankfully (for us Luigi detractors) but also sadly (for all Canes fans) this is absolutely spot on.

if he wins 10 next year while losing what hes going to lose this year, ill give him his props. easy to look great w an elite QB but to do it without is def props (look at what chips successor did when he lost his QB (titans QB name escaping me)

Mark Helfrich and Mariotta. And I agree. Helfrich went 4-8 in year 4 and 9-4 in year 3. In retrospect, they let him go pretty quick so soon after going 13-2. Guy went 24-4 in his first two years and still got canned in year 4. We gave Golden a fifth year smh

He won 9 games last year, then 10 games this year -- and his conference.

I mean, seriously - what else are we expecting from our next head coach? That he won a national championship? That guy ain't coming to Miami anymore, sorry to burst your bubble.

If Mario continues his success but one good season doesn’t make a coach.

The problem is that if you hold every potential candidate to that standard, you've waited too long. At this point, it's probably unrealistic that Cristobal would leave Oregon for Miami.

You need to hire Urban Meyer when he's at Utah -- not Florida. Or Nick Saban when he's at Michigan State, not LSU or Bama. Or Ed Orgeron when he's at Ole Miss -- not USC or LSU. Or Brian Kelly when he's at Cincinnati -- not Notre Dame. Or....

At that point, you've missed your opportunity to hire him. If he wins 10 games again, we simply won't be getting him.

He is killing it in every way and he just landed Flowe.

Said it before and I'll say it again - if the rumors are true and he really does want to come back to the U, the administration needs to do everything in its power to make that happen.
Why ON EARTH would he want to come back here? With Phil Knight and Nike's money and facilities, he'd be NUTS to leave. The only way we would have a chance of getting him is if he gets fired.

I’d be shocked if he’s back in 2021 if we have a similar season next year.

6-6 will get him canned.

He needs at least 8-4.

6-6 with losses to FSU, Temple, and Michigan State could get him canned. 7-5 might put him on the extreme hot seat. Maybe a firing depending on who/how/when/what/where of our losses. 8-4 and his job is safe. I just don't see the power brokers firing the mayor's son after year 2

He's from Miami, he's an alumni, and he could conceivably want to be the one to return the program to its former glory.

Honestly, there's a lot that would appeal to Cristobal that Oregon couldn't help with their new shiny facilities and Nike money.

As always, there's the possibility that some of us don't want him as our coach, but don't actually hate him. Tough to believe but still possible.

thats fine, but there are still no legit reasons for that either imo. Maybe could disagree on coaching style but that’s about it really.

He went 5-4 in the pac 12 and finished 4th in the North with a good team. He’s no different than the crap we’ve had. If he can sustain success I’ll be glad to say I’m wrong but there’s way too many people crowning him around here
