Reilly Gibbons to Stanford

Killed pulled some Clifton ****son **** but people excuse him because he's going to Stanford. Always a shady move to do this last second without much indication your gonna flip.

Canes OT recruit Reilly Gibbons flips to Stanford

If you looked at the picture on his Twitter account before Saturday it sure looked like Reilly Gibbons couldn't wait to become a Hurricane.

Reilly Gibbons' old Twitter photoBut apparently those plans changed. According to Scout.com National Recruiting analyst Jamie Newberg, Gibbons took an official visit to Stanford this weekend and has flipped his commitment to the Cardinal.

Listed at 6-6, 292-pounds and rated a three-star recruit by 247Sports.com, Gibbons had been committed to UM since April.

Corey Long, editor-in-chief of Fuel Recruiting and based out of the St. Petersburg area, was stunned to hear the news. He knows Gibbons and his family well and thought for sure he was headed to Miami. Ultimately, though, Long believes Gibbons -- a very strong student when it comes to academics -- was probably persuaded by Stanford's law school program.

"The crazy thing is if he didn’t go to private school he probably would have enrolled at UM in January," Long said. "Losing an offensive tackle is one you never want to lose, you'd prefer a guard or center if you had to lose one. But at the same time they can replace him next year. At the end of the day I don’t think it’s going to break their class. If he played defensive tackle that would have been a bigger loss. But offensive tackle, I think they’re all right."

So, he's going to skip undergrad and go straight to law school? I get that he may have simply wanted to go to Stanford but the Law School explanation doesn't really make sense.

I'll ask again, did he even visit Stanford?

Yes he flipped while he was at Stanford this weekend

Have to wonder how strongly committed he was in the first place, if he flips last minute on a trip to Sanford. Also have to factor in depth on the Miami OL and the fact that two likely frosh tackles - McDermott/Darling - are already on campus and will be there for spring practice. Maybe he's been wrestling with the depth chart and didn't need much convincing.

He said all along he was looking for a school with great academics and great football. Stanford meets both of those better than Miami.

He wont have a career in football, so he needs the best education to be successful

Kid's a monster and hasn't yet reached his ceiling. Might catch some flack, but in regard to potential, I thought this kid was right up there with McDermott and Darling.

Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders with career aspirations, but I wouldn't discount him developing into a very good player with NFL potential.

You guys are crazy if you think any one especially a parent in their right mind wouldn't tell their child to go to Stanford over UM IDGAF ... If Stanford's offering I'm there .... Good luck to him ....this was a executive move by a smart family ....

I've no issue with him going to Stanford over the U. Especially if he has no designs on a pro career.

My issue is with the timing and the statement made by his father on here. It says a lot about the (lack of) character of the man.

*******REAL TALK ALERT**************** Look away if you bleed from your crotch once a month.

If this snot-nosed shady scumbag and his double-talking parents weren't lilly white professionals yapping about education while they were slinking off in the quiet of the night to scumbag it up, you guys would be slaughtering him for this move. I don't consider him a "recruit" because he flipped to Stanford a couple days before signing day. It's over with him; he's a Stanford player. So, I'm going to give you real talk on him unfettered by the "recruit" rule on this board. Reilly Gibbons and his parents are scumbags, and their word is ****. If you have any sort of humanity you don't pull what they pulled. Print it!

He'll fit in well if his plan is to go to law school. He's already a slithery slimy worm with the moral fiber of a piece of rice paper, whose word is meaningless. I wish him nothing but the worst in his football career. I'm hoping for a Matt Patchan run without the late success that Matt enjoyed at BC. Fck that Pugsley Adams looking ****.
