Reilly Gibbons to Stanford

It def sucks. Wish the kid woulda tripped three weeks ago. Of course if think we are okay numbers wise and **** the OL has been a strength supposedly and we got hammered at los way too much. Maybe he woulda helped in a few seasons. Maybe he goes the Matt Patchan route. Who knows. Wanted. Don't want to reach to replace.

You guys are crazy if you think any one especially a parent in their right mind wouldn't tell their child to go to Stanford over UM IDGAF ... If Stanford's offering I'm there .... Good luck to him ....this was a executive move by a smart family ....

The campus might be pretty, but everything else out there cost so much more, and traffic is a nightmare. My sister moved out there a year ago and is trying to move back to ohio.

Actually I think the campus is somewhat overrated. But Palo Alto is fantastic. Traffic not as bad as Los Angeles. Cost of living high throughout California.

And yes, if the Canes lose a kid I hope he goes to either USC or Stanford. I seldom have to worry about that because they don't compete for the same players often. After a full day of sickening spread offenses it's always a treat to watch basic mauling Stanford.

I'm a positive guy by nature. Even when **** gets real. But Cane4life is on a ****ing island. Every time we've had a coach stumbling towards his ultimate demise there has always been that one guy. For Shannon I remember Bigpoppacane. For Golden it looks like it's Canes4life. Oh well, at least he really is a true Cane and not some troll. Enjoy the island!!!

Nah, that's just the perception because I try to speak some freaking logic to the constant b*tch fest. Ive criticized Golden's defense, and said Donofrio should be canned. If Golden cant turn it around, his #ss should be fired. IDGAF about Golden, but I try to look at the big picture. This sh*tshow has been going on for almost 20 years. Most of Butch's tenure here was JUST like this. Then Coker. Then Shannon. Now Golden. At some point we are goign to have to accept that we arent getting a Nick Saban to come in here and "win right away". Were going to have to build it from the ground up, and have some patience. If Golden's not the guy, Ill be happy to see him pack his bags. But until that's clear, I think some fairness and perspective isnt a bad thing.

Maybe its because I dont see the point in just being another guy screaming "AG is a F*CKING moron" for the 400th time in every thread and would rather explore other ideas as to where this program can improve. Maybe its because hes almost certainly going to be here for another 2 seasons, and I have to HOPE he succeeds before this program sinks further into mediocrity and irrelevance. There was a time when I was an angry young buck like most of the cats on here, screaming my head off like most of them. Now that I have reached what is probably the mid point of my life, Im trying to take a calmer and more reason based approach to some things. Not that I cant pop off when I get going on something, but it just ****es me off when people refuse to see anything but what they are frothing at the mouth about. There is no simple solution here.

I understand. I even empathize. But at some point it's best to step back, not post so much defending what going on, and just hope for the best. Like I said. Right now you are on an island. So is the coaching staff. Year four. They need to pull a rabbit out of the ******* hat.

Can't blame the kid for going to the better school in football (at the moment) and academics. That said, flipping so soon after his visit seems impulsive. As Manny said, check out this kid's FB page. Looks like he was all Cane. This is where the coaching staff including Kehoe needs to come in and try hard for the flip back.

I am not advocating Stanford automatically trumps UM just that I think it could be a combination of factors.

But, traffic in Palo Alto vs South FL. Please.....

Lol at the people saying you can't pass up a chance at a Stanford education like Miami is a **** school. GTFOH

I AM blaming the kid for fcking us at the 11th hour. But unless this kid had his sights set on being a pro football player, getting a degree from Stanford is a golden ticket. A full ride to Stanford, if you actually care about education and a degree is pretty hard to pass up.

Read the **** article. Kids father is gushing about the Stanford education and what an opportunity that is. He barely mentioned football as a reason the kid flipped.

You're a massive joke.

Sounds to me like his parents are encouraging him to go to Stanford too. This is a lost cause. And this didn't just happen overnight. IMO. That's where I think the kid really f@cked us.

Sweet. Another conspiracy. Reilly and his parent planning the Stanford flip all behind Al's back. Poor Al.

Wyche deciding to rejoin this class is a bigger deal than gibbons heading to Stanford. Burgess and Ridley decision tomorrow are a bigger deal than Gibbons decision. Burgess and Ridley as true freshmen, were going to have a bigger impact on the field than Gibbons in 2015. Wish he was in this class, but 20+ pages over him heading to Stanford is ridiculous. Some of u guys just want a reason to b**ch and moan! Log off until September chumps, lol!

I don't agree at all. Yeah, we need DT's, but Reilly is a much better player than his recruiting evals would lead one to believe. Stanford cranks out o-linemen. He's just one of the next in line now. IMHO he would have played right away. This is a kid that would have played guard, but has athleticism like a tackle. We do have a good o-line haul without him, but he was one of the less heralded recruits that I thought made this class really special. Stanford knows what they are getting in him and they want him for a reason. To say it differently, if Stanford is recruiting an O-linemen, you want that kid too. We just lost him. No bueno.

This staff is ******* terrible. They all need to go.

All of the momentum in the world...shed the NCAA mess, Top 10 ranking, recruiting class in the Top 5.

They then proceeded to tank the season. Defense finished the year allowing 500 yards per game over the last month and a half of the season. Lost to Duke. Didn't make the ACCCG. Got our asses handed to us in the bowl game.

Recruiting ranking will fall into the 15 range because we lost a ton of good players and its a recruiting class filled with a bunch of three stars from anywhere else but South Florida...meanwhile, we are stuck with a coach that doesn't want to be here and tried to bolt to a school that is under the worst set of NCAA sanctions in the country in the still of the night, however, because he isn't good enough and was told 'thanks, but, no thanks'...couple it with the fact that this guy doesn't have what it takes to be respectable here, never mind win.

A terrorist attack on the Hecht on Monday morning would be an improvement at this juncture. Blow the whole thing up.

He's in the ESPN 300 is the main reason people give a ****. Affects the rankings, other than that this is dirt off the shoulder. #CryOn

you're right. We only care because he's in the ESPN 300. It has nothing to do with the continuation of a terrible trend with our recruiting.

Here is why people should care. We have made it a bad habit, as a program, of losing recruits and team members. Sure we are deep at OL, but remember we are losing Bunche and now we are losing a recruit that was sure to be serviceable in coming years. You need to stop this before it becomes a problem and we end up having issues with OL personal just like we have been experiencing with our DL personal. You have to think long term as well as short term.

We can't compete with Stanford. They beat us in every aspect. Good luck to that kid. I'm happy for him.
