Reilly Gibbons to Stanford

I don't usually bag on kids, but this is a **** move. By the kid and his parents. A family of ****es.

And our staff is an embarrassment to cluster****s all around the globe.

I have no problem with any kid picking duke or Stanford over miami. But the family kept saying reilly was solid the whole time and wouldn't take visits anymore. More disappointed in our staff than the kid. I understand how great the education is, but it was just a shady move.

Why disappointed in the staff if his family said he was solid and not taking anymore visits?

Because when a kid has been committed for 9 months+ I expect them to sign with us. Idc that gibbons said it has nothing to Miami. If you told Gibbons a good enough pitch, he would've said no to Stanford because it was too late and he would've signed with Miami.

LOL. That's stupid. What pitch could anyone give a kid that would compete with Stanford? ****, we can't even pitch a better football program then them.

At this point, we can't pitch a better football team than Duke either. Soooooooo

But you expect the staff to make some miracle pitch to keep a kid from going to Stanford?

1. Any of you knuckleheads ever BEEN to Stanford. It's a beautiful campus next to the tech center of the world. (I am a Cal grad so it's hard to admit that)
2. Stanford diploma vs UM; no contest. My kid goes to UM but the Stanford paper goes farther in life.
3. Maybe the kid didn't want to redshirt. (See below)
4. Everything doesn't HAVE to be Golden's "fault". He's made mistakes. The D sucked and the bowl was embarrassing. But, that doesn't mean that EVERY misfortune is his fault. By claiming so you all lose credibility.

Finish Strong Canes...Fight to the end.

Gibbons heads west: Three-star offensive tackle Reilly Gibbons, who committed to Miami before his senior season, will instead accept a scholarship to Stanford according to veteran recruiting reporter Jamie Newberg.

Gibbons (6-6, 292), from Saint Petersburg Catholic, is the nation’s 28th-best offensive tackle prospect, according to 247Sports.com’s composite ratings.

Two of UM’s incoming freshman offensive linemen (Kc McDermott and Trevor Darling) enrolled in January. UM has a commitment from Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas’ Nick Linder, who projects as a center and is the brother of graduated standout Brandon Linder.

Gibbons, who switched from tight end to offensive tackle before his senior year of high school, would have been a redshirt candidate for the Canes, who return three offensive line starters, have four players with experience and two early enrollees ranked in the top 10 at their position nationally (according to 247Sports, McDermott is No. 3; Darling is No. 9).

If they weren't such horrible coaches and would have had us back on track going on his FOURTH ******* YEAR these kids wouldn't even consider going somewhere else.

That fat **** and his retarded defensive coordinator are going to destroy what's left of this university.

Stop defending the current administration and coaching staff. It's time for anarchy.

They did it to beat out Duke?

I understand why he left. It's clear as day. Everyone complaining in here knows Stanford vs Miami degree is no contest. That's not the problem any of us have.

The official Don Bailey Jr crowd response to this situation

"We were already stacked on the O-Line"

or

"Can't blame him for going to Stanford"

Aren't we suppose to be known for our ******* academics...cause God knows the football program has been in steady decline and is run by the worst administration in all of college football.

Got some hard core ******* morons on this board.

I can't anymore. Crootin' is not for the weak. Ordering myself a giant cookie cake and calling it a night.

I just realized it was two years ago, not last year, that Stanford stole the late prized offensive line recruits from USC. That 2012 Stanford offensive line class was touted as one of the best ever.

It shouldn't be a surprise when Stanford is able to pry away offensive line recruits. For one thing, their system often relies on 6 offensive linemen on the field at the same time. In short yardage, or even when an opponent simply can't cope with their muscle, instead of double tight end they simply use an extra lineman. And no doubt they tout it to recruits and can show it to them on film.

Actually, I was defending the kid.

Any way you slice it, kid is a douche for waiting to the last second to flip. I don't mind that he chose a different school, but he should have informed the staff so they could prepare to find his replacement.
