Refs were bad

It was 3rd and 14, the result of the play was an incomplete pass so it went to 4th and 14, but with the penalty the 3rd down was replayed. It was correct.
With the 3rd down being over, wouldn't any penalty be considered a "dead-ball" foul? I do not ever remember an offense going from 4th down to 3rd down because the defense was assessed a penalty. There is no rule for this. Downs are sequential and progress one through four. You can replay a down or it can be reset to one as a result of a penalty. An offense can loose a down as a result of a penalty. Downs can't reverse in count downwards.

Someone please correct or provide an example. I feel like I need to rewatch this series again to confirm what I thought I saw during the game.

Yeah actually they were. There's actually a rule specifically for just what USF was doing. It's called inducing the snap. I saw one legit false start that should've been called on us.
CFB just specifically made a new rule to call it as delay of game now, and actually goes further than just the previous inducing, it also says sudden non football moves by the DLine basically with intention of trying to draw a false start is also a penalty.

Now clearly near the goal line when they were doing their shift, you can probably argue that either way just from the physical shift, as you have to allow a line to shift in unison… but if there was a loud signal they gave then that would be the problem…

It’s the same situation as the grounding call against ND.

The network showed the next down as soon as the ball went incomplete.
But with the replay and in this case penalty, it was actually still 3rd down. It was correct in both instances.

I was at the game so if someone has an explanation I'd appreciate it.

There was a fair catch signal made by USF on a punt. The ball landed, bounced around, and the PR picked it up and ran a few yards before being tackled. I always thought that was a flag. No flag was called. It seemed to me like the refs spotted it where the PR caught it and did not let him advance it, but any explanation as to why there wasn't a flag on that play I'd appreciate it. Not that it matters, just curious.
Yes it is a penalty. I am not sure if it is along the same lines (penalty yard wise)as interference when a returner is impeded from making a catch, but still a penalty.

While we are at it, that first long pass play by USF should have come back due to the obvious handful of jersey the OT had on Bain. Pitiful.

Yes we dont get calls. So you take care of business throughout the game so situations like 2001 or GT 2 years ago dont happen. That call sucked but we put ourselves in position for something like it to happen. Thats not a popular opinion but its something I have preached since I started coaching. Dont take strike 1 down the shoot then swing and miss at a hanging curve ball and then get angry when they call a FB 3 inches off the plate and call you out.

I understand what was going on with the short yardage plays. The ones on Sisi were 100 percent on him. Nobody else. It was regular formation and he just jumped the gun TWICE. I guess it was USF fault that Marion, a WR, jumped too. The one on Samson was nothing but him. Again nobody was moving.

I get it. Miami usually seems to get the short end of the stick from the refs. But if you go watch the 4 that I just posted it had nothing to do with USF.

The commentator guy said the same thing and wondered why there was no penalty, There was no replay of course, just like there weren't any replays on the false starts.

Okie doke. The rule by the way isn't only relating to movement. Even though on that part you're wrong as well by saying no one moved. No pressure. You're entitled to say what YOU saw.

That definitely was a call. Targeting several different times should've been called, holding was rampant all game and inducing the snap happened 8 times that I noticed. It just is what it is. Till we get out of the acc it's gonna keep happening.

Not sure how this wasn't even reviewed. Also, I've given up hope of ever getting a holding call on any opposing OL.
Do our guys not “sell” it enough?
Why doesn’t Mario bring it up in Media session and shed a light on it? Phil Jackson would ***** about calls, next game MJ shoots 20 FT
It works!
Why doesn’t our AD take it up publicly w ACC?

Show a **** video of all the non calls and MAKE them call it

The ACC is going to become a laughing stock if they don’t deal with this. As to the issue with the long term guy quitting last week, the ACC issued a statement that they have dealt with the replay officials “internally” who created the mess which I assume means they were fired.

I know the rule doesnt apply to just movement. Take off the orange/green shades. Those were on Miami. It was happening last year and the year before. You keep blaming refs for everything. I get it, you are one of those.

“Penalties for inducing the snap
  • Defensive Delay of Game:Any defensive player within one yard of the line of scrimmage who makes "quick and abrupt or exaggerated actions" that simulate the snap in an obvious attempt to make the offense foul will be assessed a 5-yard delay of game penalty.“

Funny guy. I don't wear any shades and if YOU would've said last year and the year before in your lil rant I would've agreed in most instances. You were talking about one game... In that one game you're clearly clueless. Either way feel free to stick with what you believe. You just keep saying something different and blatantly false each time you talk. Guess you're one of those

You are just like the other sheep in here. Everything is the refs fault. Open your eyes and watch the plays. I guess USF was inducing all 5 false starts Cause Miami has never had a problem with false starts the last couple years. The fact that you posted this shows you dont watch games
