Reese Poffenbarger HL

A lot of them in stride, too. Those are **** near trick shot throws he's making. If he was 6'4", every team in the country would want him.
I heard that line about a certain #1 overall pick a few too many times this offseason.

Anyone looks good in a highlight tape. He lost his last game 59-0 against South Dakota State.

Threw for zero TD’s, 3 INT’s,

But he’s supposed to lead us to victory against Florida State
You do realize Albany was a 2 win team before he got there, right? SDSU is a solid team, and the last time I checked, it takes a team to win a game. Albany absolutely stunk without him, and made the playoffs with him. One dude can't do it all.

This is everything the gatekeepers on this board said wouldn’t happen by going cheap on the high school trail and saving the money for the portal.

Some of us warned you: there aren’t a lot of impact QBs in the portal, and it’s a feeding frenzy to get the few that exist.

Does any of how this has played out cause *anybody* to rethink their spring/summer position and maybe acknowledge that the other side’s argument had a little more credence to it than you cared to admit at the time?

All jokes apart: he looks like a gamer and a fun player in general, will see if his game will translate in the mighty ACC.

I’m surprised Corchobal liked him, he doesn't seem his kind of QB. Maybe this is all Dawson pushing for him after the Ward fiasco.
People forget shadeur played at that level lesser production but ppl don’t wanna talk about that

As someone who has made this exact post 2 or 3 times I can tell you that it will fall on deaf ears.

This cycle Miami basically stopped to recruit the QB position after Anderson, a 3-star project who is not gonna be ready until his senior year, committed.

Last year Miami refused to look at the portal for an experienced QB2 knowing that TVD was injury-prone and a very stricky player.

Can you be considered an elite recruiter if you continually botch the recruitment process of the most important position in the sport year after year? Asking for a friend.

That scoreline is way more of an indictment of his team than him as an individual. UAlbany had no business even making it that far. The talent between the two schools is nowhere near comparable. A good QB can only mask so much.
Albany won 2 games before he got there. They won 11 this year. He's a difference maker, at that level. Time will tell if he can compete and win the job here. With the QB situation what it is, he's a good pick up.

And South Dakota State won the FCS championship

If you don't have a QB, can you be considered a QB killer? 5D chess.

That’s not even necessarily my point.

It’s that there have been two serious discussions on this board over the last year:

1. QB recruiting strategy

2. Offensively philosophy

There’s a certain segment of posters on this board that seem to work backwards and justify everything we do as the right path.
“This is the offense UGA runs.”
“This is the best QB recruiting strategy.”

And every. single. week. has shown them to be wrong. The offense struggles to score points with the bunch the box big man bullsh*t.
The QB recruiting is an absolute disaster with no hope for the future on the roster, because the portal was suppose to be a “the future is now” shortcut to recruiting.

At some point you’d like to see those people just acknowledge that maybe, just maybeeeeeeeee, they might actually be wrong.

The bar has been lowered so much that only James Cameron can save us now.

Exactly. SDSU is like the UGA or Bama of FCS, while Albany has been the UMass or Nevada. Poff turned Albany around from nothing, but the team talent difference was still overwhelming.

There’s quality in the portal if you have a scheme and coaches that develop. Penix and Nix being two examples. I said when Mario got here Tvd‘s development would be huge beens he has a rep around Cfb with offense and qb’s. We saw how that went.

All the more reason why the transfer portal route was always a mistake.

High school kids are more willing to take the risk because they still have 4 years to play.

You’re asking high school kids to date Mario.

You’re asking transfers to marry him.
