He knows winning football.

One of my favorite Canes..

He will instill the need to work. I know about his Raven stories..

He will let Manny and the team..

"Ya'll think your working hard?...Crap.

Get to real work, ya'll playing Patty cake"

He played with and into greatness..
He will let be said of hard nose football.

It's a good move by UM and him.

Whether or not this succeeds will be be about diaz, not Reed.

As an advisor, all Reed can do is offer advice. Diaz can choose to follow it or not, and has the authority to give reed as much or as little access to the team as he wants.

I have no doubts about Reed. It’s Diaz that worries me.

Very good point sir. Just said it on another thread. Where we stand today, right now, the past failures of Coker, Randy and Shannon are irrelevant. So are Blake and Strawley. This season and our immediate future are 100% on Manny and the wholesale changes---additions and subtractions--he just made.

Honestly have no idea what to expect.

Ed Reed was on the sidelines the last time we played Notre Dame. Coincidence?

He's one of, if not THE , most intelligent players to EVER play the game of organized football. He has more football knowledge in his head than many coaches.

My issues here are his fake title and the dotted line to Diaz on the org chart. They basically gave him a neutered position.

He can't hurt, but who knows if Manny will listen. I just hope that if/when Manny is eventually fired Reed isn't a casualty. He deserves to get a better role in the program eventually.

This is all about Manny and how he chooses to use the tools at his disposal. This is the year that will determine his future. The schedule next season is weak-***, so that should help him. Having Ed can't hurt as I see it - but I've been surprised and disappointed many times before.

I’m surprised ER took this role unless he saw it as a way to get his foot in the door because he has only talked about wanting to coach in the past.

I just had to spot my whiskey truth on it. Bear with me.

His eyeball test will be worth it all.
Fair enough. There’s a ton of threads but people always want the spotlight for their particular thoughts for whatever reason.

Fwiw I think most people agree. I don’t think people are pretending this somehow fixes all of our issues, but this is the type of person you want in this program in some way shape or form.

This is the feeling I get.

If Diaz were to majorly mess up this coming year (and be fired with all the coaches), I still think Reed is here in the role he has.

At least I hope that's how it's set up.

Even if Manny ends up getting the boot, Ed Reed should be unfireable.
