Reed will be good for us..

I’m surprised ER took this role unless he saw it as a way to get his foot in the door because he has only talked about wanting to coach in the past.

Reed loves being a showman. He loves a job where he gets attention, even if he holds no actual power.

I'm not surprised at all that he took this job. It's the type of job he loves.

Not sure Reed will have much say so in the way Manny coaches his team..jmo

I think that’s why Zo wasn’t hired....he wanted to have more control of things.Im hoping Reed has more than administrative duties ( unless one of them lets him fire Flake) but I’d bet he may be able to make suggestions to Manny but doubt he can make any type demands team wise

I'm very glad Ed Reed is on board. My only concern is that Ed Reed doesn't need this job. He doesn't need the money. So he's only doing it out of love for the U.

I hope that's enough to get him out of bed at 4:30am on a Wednesday morning. Why not just go the Jimmy Johnson route and move to the Keys and enjoy being a rich hall of famer?

But Ed Reed is a special person.... if anybody has it in them, he would.

Reed's role is extremely nominal. It's just something to make the fanbase happy.

Absolutely REEKS of a PR move to placate the (rightfully) angry fans.

With that said, he's a qualified football mind. Hopefully he moves up the ranks to a position where he can make a real difference down the road.

Speaking of people who love attention...

Whether or not this succeeds will be be about diaz, not Reed.

As an advisor, all Reed can do is offer advice. Diaz can choose to follow it or not, and has the authority to give reed as much or as little access to the team as he wants.

I have no doubts about Reed. It’s Diaz that worries me.
This. I have no doubt Reed will give some great speeches. But at the end of the day Manny and Blake are still in charge of the program.

Diaz saw whatever he was doing last off season and last season wasn't working.I'm just glad to see a hc who isn't afraid to make changes and get people in here to help him understand what championship football is all about.think it's time for us to quit bashing the coaches and sit back and watch.whether you like it or not these moves Diaz has made assured him two more seasons as a hc.

This move wasn’t diaz, it started w the BOT. Apparently Diaz wasn’t too happy... this according to Barry

I didn't know that Diaz didn't want reed.I know he didn't want zo.but Diaz has to listen to reed too much respect out there for reed.

Reed might give some speeches, but the main thing he'll probably do is tweet. That's what Reed really loves doing.

That's what I'm afraid of. Highsmith working at UM didn't pan out because he wanted a more of an executive role and by all account his hiring was vetoed by Diaz. Let's see how effective Reed's "advisory" role is.

He knows winning football.

One of my favorite Canes..

He will instill the need to work. I know about his Raven stories..

He will let Manny and the team..

"Ya'll think your working hard?...Crap.

Get to real work, ya'll playing Patty cake"

He played with and into greatness..
He will let be said of hard nose football.

It's a good move by UM and him.

cant wait to see Ceveland Reed dominate also.

Ed knows what it takes to be a Champion at the highest level. Very, very few people really understand what it takes to reach that level. Manny, the players & everyone else associated with the program would be making a huge mistake if they don't tap into Ed's knowledge bank particularly as it pertains to:

1) the intense preparation it takes to be elite,
2) leadership,
3) off field behavior, and
4) playing the Safety position -- hello, he's a sure fire HOFer and one of the greatest to ever play the position. Keeping him away from the players would be one of the dumbest things you could ever do.
