Recruits not signed on ESD

i would think it makes more sense financially to wait after the ESD to get a bigger paycheck for these kids

The issue is the market makers (big money schools) aren’t going to wait around for kids. They want confidence in who is coming/not so they aren’t left with empty spots for spring. Now if a lot of kids held off, it could shift the market.

That’s why I keep saying ( I think). It’s changed so much then there’s summer A, summer B and fall enrollees .
In years past, it was always 85 enrolled with financial aid. Thus, summer A/B you have to plan ahead with portal dates now making sure you don’t sign too many or you will have to force someone out and hurt them because they are outside the window to play for the current year. That would be a bad look.

You sure about this , I was told they don’t have to be at 85 until spring. I see no way we get to 85 now.
I think they dont have to be at 85 until spring. Currently @GojiraCane updated the roster on the main board. We're sitting at 92 scholly players. With 7-10 that leave after the bowl game we should be at 85 though. Numbers are tight though for sure.

Makes sense

It feels like it’s been a really long time since we’ve had to worry about this at Miami

If we are at 65 or 66 and have 31 new additions as of today and looking to sign at least 5 more before the season it would put us at around 102 and we will have to cut around 17 current players. It won't just be dead weight there will be tough, painful cuts in there to get down to 85.

They guys who had the covid year and are older don't count towards the 85 if it's their 6th year which lowers the numbers for most programs
Interesting. I gave up on trying to figure out numbers years ago and it’s even worse now

Bless the people that keep track of this

Not disagreeing necessarily but probably more from a personal standpoint than a production standpoint

Not too many guys on this team that would be tough to replace or upgrade

Not sure why we're worried about numbers. Mario is going to clean house to make the room, he's said so publicly now multiple times. So if there's a CB or any other recruit for that matter that we want, he'll just add another current player to the list not getting scholarships and have the hard conversation.

This is a brutal business, especially for those kids who haven't graduated yet and haven't put enough on film to land at a quality program. But Mario knows he needs to win in 2024, and he'll take whatever steps are necessary to do so.

one thing is pretty clear. Schools with endowments for football scholarships will be able to move specialists to PWO to free up 2-3 spots for 4-5* kids. Those PWO can get NIL deals to cover their spots thus taking the 85 count to 88. The remaining PWOs could be Burroughs types getting a team to 105 actual elite types with 17 redshirting as transfers. The endowments move the cost off the NIL/Athletic department budgets thus freeing up funds to land more kids or better kids.

Is Burroughs definitely out?

Worrying about numbers is just a game the board does to pass time

It gets weird when posters here start saying things insinuating that the coaches don’t know the numbers 100x better than they do

There’s really noone on this team outside of a few guys in the 2023 class that are irreplaceable or not able to be upgraded imo

As long as guys like Bain are staying around, I’m good with whatever happens

That's news to me. Very interesting. Would have thought this would be prohibited.

No way saban is only worth $60m. Makes $10m from Bama alone. Bet he makes another 10m from endorsements. Then you get to a good investment plan and he should be grossing $30m with lifetime earnings well over $100m.
Google says he is worth 60M I also agree but maybe that means cash instead of assets on top of it?

Ive tried to keep a running spreadsheet over the years and this matches up closely to my sheet as well. Counting the transfers and returnees I had miami around 92 or so. I saw someone else say like 102. No clue how they got that number. I was under the impression miami would need to have about 7 or 8 more guys bounce. Obviously the more portal guys they take the higher the number would go. I believe I had already included a transfer QB in my totals as well

Where is that number coming from? I think Miami is closer to 91-92ish right now

That was before the HS class and portal.
So u have us over 100 too? I keep a running list and remove guys that transfered or graduated and added in all the current HS kids and the 4 transfers and was at like 92. Maybe my list sucks lol
