Recruiting Rankings for all the players in the Super Bowl

Of course there are more 3* than 5* players on the list, there’s only a handful of 5* coming out of high school every year.

Looking at the sheer numbers is pointless tho, you need to look at it statistically....

.00005% of 2/3* players reach a superbowl
15% of 5* players will reach a super bowl.
On a player of which group do you want to place your bets on?

edit: the above % are just estimates I didn’t break out my abacus.

Who said there should be more 5 star than 3 star players? That would literally never happen.

Basically offensive line is a crap shoot.

this is true. Way to hard to project high school kids when it comes to lineman. Now skill position and others, it’s more likely that a 4 or 5 star is elite. Like someone said earlier, yeah it’s going to have more 3 stars cause 80% of the pool in the rankings are 3 stars. If you look at it mathematically though, 4 and 5stars produce more though cause that pool is much smaller.

There’s 20 5* linemen and 4000 other linemen... are u choosing one of the 20, or one of the 4000?

Interesting list. Star rankings are meaningful, but they are still missing a ton even in the HUDL era.

Only 10 of the 44 Super Bowl starters were four star or above. There are 16 starters who were two star or unranked.
The star system isn’t meant to predict super bowl appearances, just collegiate success.

it does it’s job pretty well.

Giving a HS kid 4-5 years to grow and develop changes things. A lot.

I think the only thing worth taking away from this list is that evaluations matter, both at the College and NFL level.

Both of the starting QB's for example were undervalued coming out of High School, and I'd argue they were undervalued coming into the NFL as well. Same thing for Tyreek Hill.

You need guys on your staff who can accurately project players and their abilities. Jimmy and Butch had no peers when it came to this. Andy Reid has been one of the better ones at the pro level.

So good players have a high potential for sustaining success. Who knew?

The DB group was most surprising to me. Three unranked guys, a 2*, three 3* and only one 4*. I wonder how that plays out over a larger sample.

All four starting DTs were four stars or above which isn’t surprising. There are only so many in the world and they are easy to spot.

If we had recruited any of those 2 stars here our staff would be fired.
and this is why player development is kind of bull sht. look at some of those schools where these 2 and 3 star kids went. Are they full of offensive line gurus or kool level position savants?
These 5 star kids may have peaked or may just be living off of god given talent and are getting out worked by lower rated kids.
Regardless of ranking we can say that high school level 4 and 5!stars win chips but that doesn’t necessarily mean they will play or last in the nfl.
the nfl is a **** mfer of a bottle neck. Your going from thousands of kids to a few hundred.
the talent level form that jump is so significant that only a few kids are able to make it.
so while both college and nfl are football; the talent gap is so huge that is may well be e same as as comparing apples to oranges.
What we should do is say what position translates to to e nfl more int terms of rankings.l across the league.
I would like to k ow what position in terms of rankings do more players make it. It seems like elite d tackles make it to the league at a higher clip than other positions. I may be wrong but just compare that to the number of 5 star offensive lineman that never even sniff a practice squad.
