By everyone, do you mean you? Because it sure didn’t catch ‘evetyone’ by surprise. Plenty of folks smelled that comin. Even folks on this board. There have been rumors about NB and FL kids and bags this year for quite a while. Maybe you didn’t know, but if our staff didn’t, then they aint doing their job.

ok go back to the thread bc clearly you havent seen it. no point in arguing with someone who didnt read the thread

Does this remind anyone of Jim McEltooth’s last year
That’s the funny thing. As much as I dislike a lot of this staff and the fact they suck at coaching, the recruiting haul ain’t that bad. Will finish in top 20. Of these dumbass coaches could have just beat FIU and Duke, maybe would have ended up around 10.

everyone always gets emotional cause we miss the big fish at the very end. Here’s the thing, we are typically never going to get these kids at the very end cause they are all going to bag schools/elite programs. Manny will continue to have to front load his classes with good evaluations and hope to pluck one or two at the end. Not sure why everyone is *****ing and crying cause we didn’t get Washington or Flowe. Did y’all really think we were going to get these types of kids?

The main issue with this class is not getting another CB for depth and OL. We still have a lot of depth at Lb albeit unproven. We will probably hit the portal for a few players. I’m as doom and gloom as it comes when it is about our program right now but all in all, this isn’t a terrrible class like some of you are making it out to be.

Now is time to turn to his coaching staff and what moves will be made after the bowl. If he keeps the staff intact, well he will he fired after next year so who really cares.
They are also missing the little fishes at the end that would have helped (admittedly only a little) in addressing these issues.

it isnt an abomination, but we did miss on needed positions. thankfully at LB we do get mccloud back which buys the staff some time. overall, it does seem like everyone is guessing w everything. we already know knighton is a done deal here. no one knows what flowE is going to do. greene caught everyone by surprise but as others have said, hes a wakulla kid who loves FSU. if he isnt going to FSU, no way in **** his mom lets him go to miami. either way, i dont think he signs with nebraska
LOL. Greene will sign with F$U in February.

i agree which is why i said i dont think he signs with NEB. hes a wakulla kid and the only way hed be coming here is if he didnt commit to NEB on his visit. that commitment just means hes not signing early and FSU will land him in feb

who’s the one coaching staff member that you can confidently say can recruit the Miami area ? Maybe Hickson but who else, maybe fields . That’s a problem and Diaz needs to overhaul his staff because you already can’t coach so if you can’t recruit the area then wtf you doing? I know a lot of people get on rumph’s recruiting (it’s deserved this year) however the whole coaching staff ISNT recruiting good enough

There’s no reason to sugarcoat it, it was a rough recruiting weekend for the Canes.

**Let’s start off with LB Keyshawn Greene’s commitment to Nebraska on Sunday following his official to Lincoln. It completely caught the staff off guard, as they were very confident heading into Greene’s Nebraska trip. That loss compounded with the news that LB Justin Flowe started crystal ball trending to Oregon as well this weekend. Going against 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong is never advisable, so admittedly I’m less confident than I was 2 weeks ago, but Wiltfong made it seem like a best guess at current rather than a done deal for the Ducks:

“Perhaps the Trojans can change the pulse of this recruitment this week. Perhaps I'm undervaluing… Miami’s position now, but right now I like Oregon.”

Here’s what I know: I know the staff is less confident than last week, but feel they are still in the game. The thought is the losses at the end of the year hurt UM here more than they anticipated. I also know that Flowe has kept those in the media off-balance regarding his recruitment with secret visits and conflicting info. Like I stated 2 weeks back, I’m not going to die on the hill of an elite out of state prospect coming to Miami and pick the Canes when I don’t know for sure, but I also don’t think it’s over here by any stretch.

**DB Jaiden Francois left his Miami OV this weekend without a commitment, which made the staff a bit nervous. I’m told they are still cautiously optimistic, while those close to Francois continue to think the pick will be Miami. With a kid like Francois, though, who seemingly changes his mind every day, this has the feel of going down to the last minute.

**Rumors of a potential flip to Auburn persist with Miami DE commit Romello Height. As he already used up his Miami official over the summer, Height technically had an opening this weekend, but he claims not to have visited Auburn and claims he is sticking with Miami. The push to at least consider Auburn is coming from his father, something that’s not altogether surprising to me considering Height told CIS in an interview in October that dad might push him into taking a visit down the line. Height has been one of UM’s strongest commitments this cycle and hasn’t taken visits for months now even though he’s had the opportunity. I think he sticks with his UM commitment.

**Just passing along what I’m hearing, but word coming out of RB Jaylan Knighton’s Miami official visit was that the staff was starting to feel a little unsure if Knighton would stick due to FSU making a massive push for him. I’m told the Noles’ new staff offered to fly Knighton in after his UM official for the last few hours ahead of the dead period and were really pushing the opportunity for playing time next year with their lack of depth at RB. Fortunately, he didn’t make that visit and those close to him expect him to stick with the plan of signing early with Miami as of Monday night, so UM may have dodged a bullet there.

**I’m not sure what to make of OL Kobe Baynes’ situation right now. A source close to him says he still hasn’t made a decision yet as of Monday night, but the absence of overly positive intel in Miami’s favor certainly doesn’t look good for UM’s chances, and that was something I expected to hear a ton of the way he was talking about Miami in the lead up to his visit. I’d put this at about 75/25 right now, with Baynes likely keeping status quo and signing with Louisville if I had to make a pick.

**There’s not much to update elsewhere. I know the pick is still likely Georgia for TE Darnell Washington, but that there’s still a small shot for Miami and others. Last week, I talked about how there was really no positive buzz coming out of CB Davonte Brown’s UM official visit. The lack of chatter has continued this week, so I can’t feel confident in picking Miami whatsoever. I’m picking UCF.

**For a deeper discussion on early signing day and more, check out the newest CIS podcast featuring D$ and I released earlier tod4ay, and also follow the signing day tracker pinned to the top of the recruiting board for the latest updates regarding signing times for both commits and targets.

Stefan...this staff confidence level is a TERRIBLE way to asses if a recruit is likely to come here.
They have proven to be at the very least incredibly gullible.

All comes down to not winning on a consistent basis!! You can only sell TNM so much before it gets old.

Manny Diaz is the worst recruiter on the staff though and he’s the HC... you look at the top schools, their HC can close so they expect their assistants to be able to close too.

I'm not sure I trust Manny's assessment of recruiting performance.

Yep, not easy being a Canes fan. Heartbreak year after year.
My wife asked me a few years ago, "why don't you switch teams?".
Wish I could, but doesn't work that way. lol.

Right, my Fiance asked me why dont I switch teams, I said because I cant get excited for another team winning, and I've tried but it just doesnt work lol
