Lol. So let me take you down memory lane really quick. Follow your boy:

What was our most pressing needs this season? Would you not agree it was OL and LB, followed by DB and DT?

Furthermore, we still recruited 1 WR in Redding this year. Lol. Worsham is legit an unknown w/ that hip injury as his production dipped tremendously.
If you want to continue to toot the horn about us recruiting two running backs, have it. We have a 5 star running back just sitting there now doing jack chit.

I mean, let's talk facts and not fan dreams. This is not a mope, this is reality. Reality is we have a class that addresses none of our concerns.
All you need to know.

If you think culture doesn’t matter, imo you ae just flat wrong.

culture doesn’t mean nice people having ice cream together. Aaron Hernandez was a heck of a football player, and meyer, like JJ in years past, jnew how to manage egos on great kids and hold teams together. Tebow helped. But it’s absolutely important that teams have pride, work ethic, toughness, resilience, determination and belief. That’s culture. Coaches help set it, absolutely. But it’s a discrete issue. It takes time to build. Matters in the military, in sports, in life, in business.

You know how all the those attributes that you're waxing poetic about grow? Confirmation that the hard work you're putting in is gonna be rewarded with success. You think the last 15 years have been filled with classes of non self-starters who don't have belief and weren't tough? Or did all those things erode when those players were getting nothing out of the work they were putting in?

I pray for the day Miami hires competent tacticians on offense and defense at the same time. A level of competency where we're not in death struggles against CMU, GT and the like. Give the players on-field results and they'll do anything you want them to. They're ballin, they're winning and their pro prospects keep growing. All this talk of culture ceases because the on-field results dictate that if you do it this way you'll get everything you want.

I could already hear Diaz’ speech tomorrow.......

Really excited about this class. We’ve filled a lot of needs and not only with a great group of young men that are student athletes, but they are also high character guys that truly want to be Canes.
Blah blah blah.

None of this sounds like a problem.

...just go out there and find a replacement linebacker...its not my fault they devalue more modern linebackers...they are available, they've just passed on many over the years. We only use two anyway. Go find some undersized move defensive ends...they convert to linebacker all of the time. So do safeties.

...go out there and find a defensive back. Its the state of f'n FLORIDA. They legitimately grow on trees, they are all over the place. This is the time of the year where you find all of those late blooming defensive back projections that have been out of sight because they never actually focused purely on DB...they played all over for their teams. They are out there every year. Go get one. Spend 24/7 on hudl until you find some. Ask a friend. idk.

...go out there find late blooming offensive lineman. They are all over the country. Maybe with better tape than whatever they fvck they've found over the past few years. This is a bit hard, but idk, if Central Michigan, Louisville, Houston, Boise State, and others can do it, I am sure we can to...just don't be worthless. Justify your paycheck.

These clowns make hundreds of thousands if not millions of f'n dollars. This **** ain't hard. Dudes with lunch bucket nine-to-fives can do it on this very forum...why these smartest guys in the room can't do it that make millions, idk.

Culture is BS that is slung when coaching incompetence is pervasive in the program. "Culture" wasn't a problem when Richt won 15 in a row. When he started losing and had no answers on offense then we started to see cracks in the culture despite the fact that the same guys were doing the coaching. You want good culture? Hire competent coaches who win and constantly have on-field answers when teams counter.

UF had a multiple time murderer on their roster along with Chris Rainey and Percy Harvin. The Pouncey brothers are POSs too. That culture was just fine because they won alot of games. When Urban couldn't hold it together anymore and they lost 5 games in his final year all of sudden the culture problem at UF was exposed. Maybe Tebow held that entire thing together. Your culture is only as good as how many games you win relative to expectations.

I agree w u to a certain extent;

I think the culture we’re referring to is the culture of accountability, meaning losing & failure is not an option. The type of culture where kids are literally sick if the lose. The type of culture where dancing when down to a G5 school would never be thought of. The type of culture where coaches make sure our guys are stronger, more physically and mentally imposing than the opponent is. The type of culture where when they step on the field, they automatically go in to “beast mode.”

The culture we have now is Twitter warriors. We have dancing when down 16. We have guys half assing it on assignments. A culture where coaches reward mediocrity b/c he high fived the best. A culture where there is no sense of pride for this school.

That needs to change now. But again, it starts at the top. If the kids see coach tweeting, if they see coach not upset at poor play, if they see coach fumbling & making decisions they’re confused about, then y would we expect them to be opposite?

"but I also don’t think it’s over here by any stretch"

ITS OVA!

Your first class should be your best class, this is what happens when you suck all around and lose to FIU

Culture is as real as character. if you think all kids are the same or any random collection of kids will sustain the same culture, you’re just mistaken.

Is Rumph really going to lose 2 cornerback targets to UCF? My understanding is that he wanted Hodges even after he decommitted.

Miami has tried a class full of captains. A class full of high school teammates. Classes focused on South Florida. Classes that had less of a focus on South Florida. The on field product has remained the same because the coaches who were in charge of those classes had no ability to replicate sustainable on field success. They were consistently outcoached and beaten by teams with lesser talent.

At Richt’s best he found a way for a time to get this program to stop losing to lesser teams. The games weren’t always pretty but he had stopped the unexplainable losses for a time. When those came back he was toast and so was whatever culture he was building.

Culture in sports is fake and tenuous. Your culture inside the program doesn’t mean a thing if you don’t win cuz all that culture building without winning will get you fired or in Richt’s case to step down. Then someone else comes and tries to establish something new.

Jay Rock will tell you “f everything else, win win win win”

You’re very confused. Schtick recruiting doesn’t create a culture. Leaders do, and evaluations do, and expectations do, and commitment does. None of the things you refer to were cultural ‘pillars.’ Certainly not when implemented by idiots. But that doesn’t mean culture doesn’t matter. It absolutely does. You won’t see Alabama players dancing around while losing. The ‘01 Canes with their halftime speeches and off season workouts had culture. And it was their culture, not Coker’s, because Coker ended up destroying it. The military takes many people who lack discipline in their lives and instills it into them, because culture. (And Richt was okay at culture, imo. Not great but yes, better than these clowns. It was offset by his incompetencies offensively and in roster management, unfortunately.)

Coaching matters. It matters in multiple ways. Which kids, how to find and get and train and teach and motivate them, what scheme, what game plan, what play calls. It starts with culture, evaluations, and planning. Those are what underpin the team and scheme.

Great post.
I also have to wonder about the off-field staff with regards to recruiting.
They appear to be clueless.
