Realistic Options

Sonny would do great here, but I think he wants a Big XII job.

If he doesn’t get the TCU job, then I believe he’ll stay at SMU, because despite them staying in the AAC he has unlimited support from their Dallas boosters & even though they’re basically a small school private school they can still recruit really locally & they don’t have to worry about financial restraints.

TCU is going to hire Prime, lmao.

But nah, facts. It definitely wouldn’t happen, mainly because we wouldn’t even try but TCU should have his contract drawn up & on the way to him already. Ah well.

Straight up, lol. I’m already ready for it. The man is about to be in the CFP with the dark skinned Malik Rosier and an absolute stud waiting in the wings for next year as well as another top notch class on deck. Like when you really sit back and think about that sh*t its like bruh, what?!! He is going to come here?? Dykes would be cheap (I think lol), and again if you invest on the defensive side staff wise with him...
Again, I just can’t see us doing much better than a **** good G5 coach if Mario ultimately turns us down.

I’m just talking though, I don’t know shiet.
I mean there are other good or decent options, but for us, sadly, the "homerun" is Mario. And I just dont see it. Stoops, Herman, some other guys...more likely. Mario is smart. Smart guys wouldn't leave Oregon for Miami

Interesting. You seem to be in the know.

Hopefully it’s a good sign.
Nah, I’m not. I have a couple friends (who posts here) who have relstionships w some players and families, and sometimes I base my opinions on what’s heard, but I’m not in the knkw at alll.

Realistic options?

Too soon to tell. We don't have an opening and we don't know how serious the administration is about winning. If they fire Blake and Manny and actually commit to investing and building a competitive program, then there would be an abundant list of "realistic" options. Let's talk once the dust settles.

The only thing worse than making another poor hiring decision is spending record money and then making a poor hiring decision. At least Diaz was relatively cheap given the lack of severance to CMR and Diaz's somewhat modest buyout from Temple. Spending twice or 3x that amount and ending up with another Diaz would be the fatal blow to this once treasured program.

Lane would light it up here with TVD and the young play makers. He knows the importance of recruiting and has seen several SEC and NFL programs to know where Miami needs to improve at behind the scenes. My concern with him is that 1. His resume is littered with loses to lesser talented teams than his and 2. Is Kiffin the tough, disciplinarian I think our team needs right now.

That's why I think Mario is the perfect guy at this time. Proven team builder, tough, no nonsense coach. Good recruiter, and most important for our team he's an oline talent evaluator and developer which we need particularly bad. The biggest knock I see against him is the offense they are running at Oregon but he hire Joe Moorehead who is a big name OC. Moorehead has a track record of running a high pace, spread offense (miss st and Penn st). I think they are so run heavy now because their QB isn't a great passer. I believe he wouldn't hesitate to hire a Lashlee type coordinator.

For the Tom Hermon people: I see a lot of talk at Texas about 'fixing the culture' and 'getting the soft kids out', which would be Herman's culture and soft players. What say y'all?

If they fire the AD, they are serious, if not, here comes some more bull****.

I also think Aranda would be a homerun if he went out and got a Ruggiero or Lebee. I wouldn’t want him with the offense he’s got at Baylor. Of course it might just be that QB he’s got. Kid can’t throw.

Allegedly Mario tried to hire Lashlee before hiring Morehead.

I’m hopeful though. I have no idea what they’ll do but if someone like Highsmith is involved, there will be competence in the room making decisions.
What makes you say that?
Honestly curious, he was a mid level executive in one of the worst pro organizations in sports, so I don't see it at first glance

Ole Miss has been more relevant in the SEC the past 10 years then we have in the ACC. We never end up with the obvious answer so you can go ahead and rule out Mario and Kiffin.
This sounds all too familiar.

I can't wait to be disappointed by our Greg Schiano hire.

Just got back to my room from Doak and had some time to think during the drive. Who are some realistic replacements?

Mario ain’t leaving a likely playoff team.
Kiffin ain’t leaving the SEC.
Fickell probably going to the Big Ten.
Miami won’t touch Leach.

Who is a realistic option? Unless we find a hidden gem, this program appears to be headed for several more years of purgatory. I’m not hopeful at all.
Hmmm, based on past performance. I predict we either promote Lashlee or rehire Golden 2.0.

Why people want this clown?!
He failed at Texas bro!
How tf he gonna make it here!?
Don’t make excuses for him either
Everybody has failed at texas bro. They just lost to **** Kansas today. They went 7-3 last year with Herman and are 4-6 now with sark. Let this sink in herman had the 2nd highest win percentage behind only Mack brown at texas since the 70s. The guy has won 71% of his games
