Ray Lewis III has passed

Most drugs can end in very bad places and perhaps it's just my own aversion to needles but mannnnnn, the jump to intravenous drug use always seemed like such a crazy leap to me.

Suicide is obviously horrible in its own right but it's horrific to think this young man seemingly didn't want to die that night and probably had a moment where he realized something was going absolutely wrong. RIP.

When they started going after the pill makers (oxy and such) most addicts turned to heroin cause it was cheaper and easier to get... Problem was dealers were now cutting heroin with fentanyl..... So addicts who were shooting up were still shooting the same dose they normally would without taking into account how much stronger the dose was based on the inclusion of fentanyl...
Dealers aren't going to advertise what they cut with.... This caused and still causes the increase in over-doses we've seen over the past 15 years or so.... I mean it's really gotten absurd with how many people, really young at that, that are dying due to this.....
I'm gonna stop now, not trying to turn the thread into something else entirely, just wanted to shed some light on what I've seen from dealing with people in it...

The synthetics are just a new world.. ******* disaster

Correct as to your first point.
Does @bacane think the Fulotn DA’s office plead the case to a misdemeanor obstructions because they were ignoring evidence of screaming and gurgling? That they chose to indict and prosecute a guilty man, but decided at the last second that 12 months of probation would be a better result?

I’m like you in that I stay away from this topic because people assume we wen’t to UM and will support anything UM. But I do think people on CIS should know the truth which is why I took the time to outline the actual facts, not the emotionally provocative words you point out.

And I even invited people to ask me specific questions as I could not reasonably outline every fact in 3-4 paragraphs as you know.

Thanks for providing insight

Perfectly stated. All Government intervention results in a trade off.
This trade off from pills to heroin (and Fentanyl) has been a bigger disaster than the pills. IMO.

If you want to misconstrue what I wrote, that is your prerogative. If you want to remain intentionally ignorant, that is your prerogative.

But if you think you know more about the case than me, you are out of your mind. Or maybe you were somehow involved in the case and I just don’t remember you? You were not in the DA’s office so that can’t be the answer. Were you on the defense teams, because I worked with or against all of those lawyers in my career and I don’t recall your presence? Or maybe you have argued over 30 murder cases and 75 felony cases to a jury verdict in your legal career like I have so you understand law and evidence better than I do.

Or maybe are you just like 99.9% of the people in the world you have an opinion and absolutely no basis for your opinion other than some BS like, “the 1st amendment means I can write all the stupid sh*t that I want”. Well congrats because you have proven your case that we allow people on CIS to write all the stupid sh*t that they want.
I’d like to report yet another murder

Follow several 'fire alert/accident/police scanner' groups on FB...overdose calls are frequent and very sad. Had a friend relapse several years ago and wound up dying. One of the many things tearing this country apart.

On an aside note, my mom was a straight edge religioius Christian woman and I can unbiasedly say an amazing person( wish i was 1/10th of the good person she was). Twice a cancer survivor. Third time diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer(not a smoker) in Feb 2018. Watched her turn into an opiate addict for her last 2 months. halfway through her doctors tried weaning her off one to try a time release, had never seen someone go through opiate withdrawal. Horrible thing to see.

Multiply that by thousands and it makes my heart ache knowing how many people lose their loved ones to a roll of the dice.

Yeah man both situations are awful. Sorry you went through that. Those pills are no joke either.

Sorry dude. It’s brutal. The medications/drugs hijack the brain; withdrawals are intense; until access to treatment is easier than the drugs people will continue to die. Stigmatizing isn’t helping.

This is such a tragedy.

I would like to add that most users are well aware of taking the fentanyl instead of heroin, especially the addicts. It’s stronger and therefore more desirable too. I helped a cousin get clean and they only ever wanted the fentanyl. The other stuff didn’t get them high anymore.

I can’t imagine burying my child. I’m likely not mentally strong enough to deal with that especially if CTE was to blame for the death AND I likely had a very large influence on their decision to play football, directly or indirectly.

That's sad... I've been clean coming up on ten years .... Dealt with a ton of people going through it... In 2012 a ex- girlfriend of mine committed suicide ,yes she was actively using often...
When that happened it really hit me hard and was a big catalyst to me getting clean....
SAD…But so common for former football players! 3 years 5 months 19 days clean from pain pills and alcohol TODAY!! On God…

Prayers to for his family. He’s watching over the U fam’ now!!!

I mentioned my addiction struggles above. I’m undersized played from 6-University. I’ve always questioned CTE stuff, but nonetheless went through ALOT. Been clean and sober awhile.

Son is ten. He will play flag until he’s older nonetheless.

Multiple ppl I know died of overdose and the main reason I was told is this exactly. Shooting the same amount you are used to and you get a bad bag. It’s over that quick.

Also all started with pain killers and then moved to the needle. Seen it destroy too many ppl. Overdose, prison for the one dealing it, suicide due to all the stuff involving it all. All because the government turned a blind eye and let the pill companies destroy a generation.

For young people today the world is a cesspool. Social media is more than a lot of what young people can deal with. Money and fame are not immune to the pressure upon the youth of today. Yes this is a tragedy. There are a lot of confused young people out there. A lot of parents miss the signs and friends also. That in itself is the tragedy.
