Rank the best college football programs (current)

1. Bama - But really, it’s because of Nick Saban, before Saban Bama was a midtier program living off the memory of Bear Bryant

2. Oklahoma - Before they make the move to the SEC; Big XII Oklahoma can legitimately make the playoffs every year, SEC Oklahoma will go down the same route as TAMU

3. Ohio State - Legit one of the best programs in college football, can’t think of another program that has hit on nearly every **** coach they’ve hired, they haven’t had a drop off in coaches since Wooody Hayes

4. Texas - When its done right can be the best job in college football, but much like Miami, hasn’t been done right in a long time

5. TAMU - Mainly due to money & proximity to high level recruits being in Texas

6. Clemson - Much like with Bama, Dabo is the main reason why this is a great program

7. LSU - Great recruiting & dedicated boosters with no instate rivals; expectations are unrealistic & too high though

8. UGA - Everyone drools over UGA nowadays because they have a bunch of 5-stars, but all they’re doing is copying Bama’s model for recruiting. It’s an attractive job due to money & recruiting, but I don’t think their success will be long term sustained, there will be no UGA dynasty

9. Ole Miss - They were one of few team who cracked the code of how to beat Bama back when Bama was at their peak, but it obviously all came crumbling down because Hugh Freeze broke the cardinal rule in the SEC

10. USC - I really hated SC during the Pete Carroll era, but it can’t be denied when its rolling they can be one of the best programs in the nation. When they’re good, they dominate West Coast recruiting, but when they suck, programs like Oregon, ASU & Utah reap the benefits.

Honorable Mention: Auburn, Notre Dame, Oregon, Baylor, Tennessee, San Diego St & SMU

You get the head coaching job at Miami if you get President Frenk a stevia-based sugar cookie, no?

I just can't wrap my head around it. I hear your logic. And, perhaps this is merely my admitted bias toward UF, but if I'm a bigtime coach, I'd rather be at PSU (which is disgusting to me, personally), Tennessee, Auburn, or even cot**** Wisconsin.

The University of Gainesville is in a nasty spot in that SEC East and, fueled by a whole bunch of lack of self-awareness (just like we have) and a giant budget that only skyrockets the pressure, it's tough to build something strong - from the ground up - with a bunch of frail Florida player mindsets. I don't see any reason they'd necessarily be above Auburn or Tennessee.

Also, please do not discount the fact you have to live in Gainesville, Florida. I've got nothing against Longhorn Steakhouse's Thursday special and Dragonfly Sushi's creativity, but go ahead and send your wife to Oaks Mall. Rate the enthusiasm. You might not get the same type of *** for the term of your contract.
Me personally no way in Haiti I live there. I'm probably biased because they have won titles in all major sports in the last 15 years. Maybe the only school to have done it. No argument on any of the **** bashing though. Sadly, I think it is a top ranked spot still.

Interesting take. Agree on UGA. See if they can sustain it a few more years before I crown them.

Yeah there's no leaving USC off a list like this. I'm not sure some of u realize how dominant they can be under the right HC. Meyer could have turned them back into a superpower. They'd probably go unbeaten 3 out of every 4 years and they'd have a recruiting stranglehold on the entire west coast.

Political bias on my part. Florida seems way more appealing than California.

When I was growing up they WERE the program.

Interested to see what everybody thinks about other programs and where they stand. Maybe your top 10 list.

I guess I should have asked what would be the top 10 most desirable places to coach.

1. Bama
2. OSU
3. LSU
4. Texas
5. ND
6. Clemson
7. OU
8. UGA
9. Michigan
10. Florida
Michigan seems high. Maybe Texas too? What have you done for me lately?

On that same note, Ole Miss seems like a good job. So does Baylor (hoops team just won NCAAB if I am not mistaken). USC has history and is in LA.

Penn State is just as good as Florida, IMO. FSU is probably right there too.

Fair enough. I thought people would argue I had Michigan and Texas lower than they should be. Ha.

Michigan and Texas are 2 fan bases that are more unrealistic than Miami. Aside from the Vince Young year at Texas, when has either done anything?
Flushed with cash more than anything, or at Texas at least. Michigan is a premier school. Has everything but weather working in their favor. Like ND, they will always be on top lists because of it.

Same way I think USC would be up there. Based on records, play, coaches they hired, they wouldn't be, wholeheartedly agree. Still a big name program in a state stacked with talent.
USC is an interesting name to bring up

Certainly a lot to like about it. I don’t know enough about them to comprehend how they’ve been so ****** for so long but it’s gotta be a myriad of reasons

Funny how there really isn’t that many programs I can think of that are just outright above everyone else as far as this topic goes

I think the top 5 are obvious:
1.Alabama
2.Ohio State
3.Georgia
4.Clemson
5.Oklahoma

You can argue the order but this is where I would put it.

6. LSU, I think with there recruiting base and status they’re one of few teams that can break through that top 5 as they showed in 2019

7. Notre Dame, they consistently win and have a lot of money backing them up.

8. Texas A and M, in the current landscape they’ve over taken Texas as the marque football program in the state for the time being.

9. Michigan, again they have deep pockets and a lot of tradition. I rank them this low because this is there first really good season in a while.

10. Oregon, this might surprise some people but in the question is said CURRENT, and currently Oregon is the best program out west ahead of USC.

The Uga dynasty has just begun as long as Smart is there…they are loaded and deep at every position classwise. Seems the qb is the key for any team to being number 1 at the end…
