2005 LSU 40- Miami 3

Spread/Uptempo offenses and running QB’s were rare in 2005. Shannon’s performance this year alone proves his basic defense doesn’t work against those offenses.

Henderson was a complete bust, Vernon (who left after 2011) and James were juniors, Golden and Barrow recruited Perryman, Randy didn't want him.

Congrats he left Lamar Miller, Phillip Dorsett and had to beg Chick not to bolt for UF.

Program was in great shape.

let me settle this guys.......Shannon is a pretty good DC when he has way more talent than the other team, therefore the 4-3 cover 2 man under worked well, he could just line his guys up and let them play football. When talent is close on both sides he does not do well, he dont scheme, rarely blitzes, dont disguise anything, and just stays very basic. Go back and look at the athletes he had to work with here, lotta true ballers. I really thought his stint with Gary Patterson would do him some good but it has not, i believe most head coaches realize the same thing as i wrote above, therefore he has not been offered any big time D1 job as DC, and he has one helluva resume, but they are smart enough to look past that resume

There were plenty of problems in the program. There were plenty of depth issues and holes on the roster. But it's wrong to say Golden didn't inherit talent. He absolutely did. The OL talent he stepped into is almost astounding.

Henderson was a day 1 starter in the NFL. Just because Shannon and Golden sucked doesn’t mean that Seantrel was actually a bust.

And actually it was Golden who had to be talked into keeping Perryman.

Our starters in 2011 included Allen Hurns, Sean Spence, Vernon, Henderson, Travis Benjamin,
Lamar Miller, and more. Losing 6 games in 2011 was not acceptable. The program wasn’t in “good” shape, but it was in good enough shape to win 9 games and a bowl game.

That’s unforgivable.

The best players he left were either seniors or juniors. After that, zip. The cupboard was bare.

Gluten sucked balls but he at least gave recruiting effort, Randy punked out at the end. Shannon gave up like a bltch at the end and stopped recruiting. Pathetic. F ‘em both.

Shannon left enough talent on the roster for Miami to win and for golden to add to like any real coach would. Dorsett, horns, chick etc even Henderson were frosh and sops. To act like Miami was completely devoid of talent is just silly really.

The funny part about guys claiming Shannon quit recruiting or whatever were the same guys who annoited golden as a "real coach". Seems like a "real coach" can come in and get players the same way Saban, tressesel, the old ou coach etc. did when they came in later than golden did.
