Miami was still getting top recruits in those early 2000 years. Randy had incredible players but his defenses are too basic. I don’t see how he was promoted after 40-3
When you have top talent you should be basic.
That's the first job of a coach.
Identify what you've got and implement your plan accordingly.
A 4-3, one gap defense with 2-deep, man under behind it was the best defense for us.
It was fine for the time but complex offenses challenged us. With spread offenses anywhere can’t see Randy fielding a top defense. That Florida defense is filled with talent and they’re 39th in total defense and goin to be worse after today
