Rambo (vs Hurns)

A transfer bout to have a better season than anyone else we ever had here 🤦🏾‍♂️
I know the old school guys didn’t play in these modern offenses but still.
A transfer broke the NCAA, Conference, and School record at LSU a couple years ago 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️. 2 Transfers also won Heisman. It's part of the game now. Rambo is a Cane, just like a transfer gave Miami one of its greatest come back wins (Brock Berlin, UF)

Santana would set records. Andre and Reggie would do numbers but Santana on jet sweeps, he’d probably line up the backfield some. He’d be electric.
I din't like comparing players of different era's. How much different would Shaq Quarterman's career be if he was born 10 years earlier and went through college before offenses got revamped?

I wasn't disagreeing. I just wanted to point out that you can't compare these guys off stats alone. Otherwise Rosier, who is the worst starting Miami QB that I can think of, would be the GOAT at the U.
OP was never comparing. He's simply recognizing Rambo's season and pointing out what he needs to pass Hurns (Which I was unaware of, so thanks OP) Making a list of the top statistical seasons wasn't in any way suggesting that Rambo is better than any of them.

its not just modern offenses, those guys played with more studs AND blew teams out.
The blowing teams out part I agree with, how quick people forget how loaded the 2019 LSU offense was and their stats were insane. (Jefferson, Chase, and Marshall) But they were involved in more shootouts.

I never said he did. However, the comment I originally replied to, did make a comment about that and that is who I originally replied to.

I agree. It is impossible to compare across eras. As to your example about Shaq. You also have to think about how much worse he would be 10 years ago with all the training advancements we have made in 10 years. So it goes both ways.

Santana Moss and Reggie Wayne were both fantastic players but the reason they top our career receptions and yardage lists is because they pretty much started all four years. From 97-99 Miami wasn’t some juggernaut blowing out teams. They had almost no depth so they had to rely on freshmen immediately. Wayne and Moss got the chance to play and play a lot because they didn’t have much else at receiver. Wayne was the only player on the 97 team more than 19 receptions.

I hear you but they clearly got a good connection
101 yards on Saturday
127 yards a week ago

I expect a big day for TVD this Saturday their d backs suck
Projecting 5 games is a bit much. I think it would be surprising if TVD has these type numbers every game. At some point somebody will figure us out and we’ll have to see what this team is made of again.

One is HOF bound...the other has NFL stats that are as good as several HOF recievers...Tana and Wayne shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as anyone on this team...or since forever. They also had the best WR coach in UM History...Put Curtis Johnson as UMs WR coach the past 15+ yrs...and the production would have been night and day better than the clown show we've seen in the same amount of time.

Rambo’s success also shows you how poorly we’ve recruited the WR position since AR’s 2016 season. That’s why when I hear people say “I’ll take a South Florida 3 star over another states 4 star” it blows my mind. Our coaches need to find talent everywhere and Rambo is an example of talented wrs everywhere.

Except Michael Irvin and Andre Johnson were better and neither of them is UM’s all time leader in receptions or yardage. Just like Duke Johnson isn’t UM’s all time greatest running back. A big part of compiling stats is opportunity. Guys who get the most playing time tend to rack up the most numbers. It’s why Mike Harley is third all time in receptions at UM when he’s not even near a top ten all time receiver.

1997s team was HEAVILY run orientated...we had 2,200+ yds rushing....that team was devoid of depth at practically every position, and the few that had a inkling of depth, were unproven frosh...

Running back was probably the only spot on offense that had legit quality players and depth. Edge and Jackson were NFL backs. Freshman Wayne was the only WR with more than 16 catches. They literally had nobody to throw to with any experience at all.

Oh trust me...I'm well versed on those teams...

The next four opponents rank in scoring defense: 83, 74, 46 and 112. Pitt and NCST were superior defensively to any of those teams. VanDyke’s numbers might dip because none of those teams is even in the top 80 in run defense, so Miami may end up running the ball more but it’s unlikely that any of our remaining regular season opponents do what much better defensive teams couldn’t.
