Simple, show pressure on the line and drop back into coverage. They will occasionally blitz, to keep the looks legit, often overloading a side. When we bite, they'll hope the disruption will free up the middle. Zone coverage, dare us to run, and if we can't with even fronts, then they've got the advantage. We have to establish the run to be productive offensively.

It'll probably look similar to UM vs Louisville 2014. Kaaya's first start.

Kaaya arrived at UM 3 months prior that game in Mid May. He had qb coaching help from Rudy carpenter as well.

Jarren Williams was an early enrollee and has already been at Miami for 2 full spring football periods and 2 full fall camps. That’s a BIG difference in reps in practice the 2 QBs had compared to each other. To add to that Williams has enos in addition to that has a personal QB coach like kaaya(Quincy Avery) who has coached the likes of Deshaun Watson, Dwayne Haskins etc. Also being in a college workout program for 1 year and a half already.

Completely different scenarios imo

Nope.

They'll load the box, try to stuff the run, make Jarren beat them - and blitz like wild men to keep him from doing so.

But they're in for a surprise - he's not going to choke, he's quick to throw when necessary, he hits his targets - and he's going to have a lot of targets open short to midrange.

Enos is going to make sure of it.

I don't know about now but back in the day first chance you got you laid out that cherry.I mean you didn't hurt him but you let him know the next 4 qtrs this what ya gettin.late shifts, stunts little extra shove or push after a play.talking trash about him his girlfriend etc.

I'm not talking about the QB performance. Just giving a real life example of how Grantham actually schemed a QB in his first start.

They're under the impression that the QB and O line are our weaknesses so they'll expect a lot of run attempts. I expect they'll stack the box at least to begin with. If JW can start completing passes we'll feast.

For those of you geniuses thinking they’re gonna blitz all night, I have a question:

Why? Have you seen our OL and think that they are going to overpower their front 4 so badly that they’ll need all kinds of extra blitzes to get to our QB? My guess is they won’t blitz often at all. You’re game planning for an accurate QB with a weak OL, you rush 4 and drop the rest into coverage.

This is probably what will happen. Mindless blitzing from the Gators would be great, because Enos is going to have easy counters for that......but that's not what they will do. They are going to pressure with their front 4 and try to confuse JW into throwing picks.

Blitz his **** off.

yeah 2nd post, that's about it. they are going to send looks at this dude from every side. back side corner blitzes, delayed LB blitzes, all out. just gonna try to rattle him. because you are right there is just nothing for them to go off of

Don't know about blitz every play...but combo of front push and blitz increases chances of missed handoffs, fumbled QB-C exchanges, and errant here pick six off foot/out of sync pass. They know the OL is questionable at best, and they know J Will knows it too. Get in his head from first snap.
Probably a good idea to pressure him that way to seen if he rattles.

IF, and a big IF, UF is confident in their O, they might not be as concerned to give up a long drive FG or TD to really see what Enos and J Will are made of as a duo early in Q1. I believe Grantham sees this game going similar to Arky v Bama 2016.

Afterall, the lizards are confident this is an FCS game for them...they roll our Canes by 10+. LSU was soft during last year's game. Blah, blah, blah.

We will see on first drive.

My hope is Enos starts off the opening drive with easy to complete passes. Get ball to playmakers in space. Punch the green skins in the mouth with several consectuive first downs.

If Miami can do that, Camping World will flood with reptile tears.

Go Canes.

PS....do we see a team scuffle in warm ups?

PSS...Miami's best way to prep J Will against TG's scheme? Practice O1s vs D1s. Let Shaq and Co get in his face (no contact) all day during every practice. If Enos can scheme to beat Miami's D...Canes in good shape.

Grantham is going to blitz him all night

It seems like Grantham prefers overload blitzes coming from either edge and he doesn't necessarily disguise them all that much. Watching UF tape I didn't see them have a ton of success twisting and stunting inside or bringing heat through the middle of the line.

It will be imperative that our RB and TE are vigilant and dedicated to protecting on these plays. Hopefully Manolo is drilling it into Williams that he needs to be watching for this **** and gives him the freedom to make calls on the fly to maximize a plays success. Jarren's father is a coach and he is supposed to have a high Football IQ. He will need to play very smart on 8/24.

Whenever facing a inexperienced opposing quarterback, the instinct from fans through a lot of the coaching ranks is to, "blitz his **** off."

In reality, in doing so it might be a quick decision, but you provide an easy one by vacating parts of the field.

I'd wager the smarter approach is to take away the easy reads and create pressure with your front four instead of trying to glitz overly aggressive.

Go back to our game against FSU and Blackman. I think if we bltz less and played coverage more that kid wouldn't have completed a pass over 10 yards. Instead, we gave him an easy touchdown throw to the tight end up the seam for what could have been the game.

If they're smart, they drop back in a ton of zone early in the game. Enos will surely have man coverage beaters set up, but the true test of a 1st time QB in a rough environment is processing looks.

If Enos is as shrewd as we hope, he comes out and tries to blow the top off that zone immediately. Make JW feel more comfortable via savage aggression. We trust our defense against their questionable OL and inaccurate QB, no? Then, see what we've got with our interior OL and draws, counters, misdirections. Settle in. And, let's see what happens.

I could see this or him blitz, blitz, and blitz some more.

All I am going to say is that they do not have an answer for all of our TEs and WRs.

They can blitz all they want. That will leave one-on-one coverage with very fast players that can all take it to the house.

Until they can prove to me that they can stop us I will believe that we can win this game.

And with no depth in the secondary, they are going to get gassed really quickly. Only a matter of time til a few deep ball connections are made.

Grantham is a raging egomaniac. He’s not going to do anything different no matter who plays.

EDIT: I replied before I read your post. Now that I did, I’m sorry I replied. Their gameplan will include how he hands off and watching him on shuttle passes, if Enos runs those. Jesus Christ.
Why is Grantham a raging egomanic ? - and why would he change his approach for a kid who has yet to take a snap as a college Qb ?
For those who believe he's going to blitz like crazy I would disagree, he's not blitzing if he gets pressure with 4.

I wonder if Grantham is capable of playing zone. Hopefully he's like D'Nofrio and absolutely married to his system and will stick with it no matter the matchup. If he sticks with his aggressive blitzing Enos and Jarren will be fully prepared for it and have the scheme to beat it.

Their fans think that our OL is so bad that they can rush a steady 4 and mix in some blitzes. I saw them talking about how all they have to do is take away our TE’s so that Jarren can’t dump off to them.

lol they are ****** geniuses i'll tell ya h'what.
