Quick Question

Winning the ACC was nice and a huge accomplishment. UNC was bad. Duke was having a bad defensive year, though still better than last year. We've always given Duke fits, even with Haith. We did not reach the Elite 8.

Anyways, basketball is a whole different animal than football. I also like how you like to leave out the fact that we went 17-16 last year. Wonder why??? Do you also remember when we were #7 last year and undefeated before losing half of the team due to injuries? You all credit Duke with carrying the team this year and being a difference maker, but discredit the impact his injuries and everyone else's had on the season last year. Duke stays healthy and Miami goes 10-2 or 11-1.

Also, Coach L never had to deal with a lack of depth and transfer issues. Golden has. Sure, lack of depth is his fault and from now on with how long his tenure has been will be solely on him for the rest of his time here, but Al did not inherit a team full of greatness. He had Stephen Morris as a QB. I know you all like to be nostalgic on here and act like every team we've ever had had as much NFL talent as we did in 01, it just wasn't utilized properly. I've got some news for you all. Miami has not had a roster that has been laden with top talent at every position for years now. However, since Golden's arrival the roster has become greater and greater and is finally beginning to get deeper.

That means we need to start seeing progress. If you look at the record exclusively, you'd think there has not been progress. If you actually look at the team and watch the games it becomes undeniable that the team that started off 3-3 would get hammered by the team that has been playing since. If Golden continues to have his teams play as smart and efficient as they have been lately, then we'll get where we want to be.

It just seems like you all will never ever be satisfied. Face the facts. Miami has played their best football in a decade the last 6-7 weeks now. They destroyed 3 teams and then almost beat what is arguably the best team in the nation despite lacking in depth and a true freshman QB who was just plain bad in the 2nd half. They were a few key plays away from beating that team. If Miami wins out including the bowl game and continues to play like they have been, then there is no way they do not get a top 20 preseason ranking. They also will have everyone that is notable at home except for FSU. And if we assume that Golden will from now on keep the team playing like they have been and improving every week, there is no reason Miami should not get 10 wins at the least next year.

I know what will happen though. We'll get a topic full of gifs that add nothing to the conversation. We'll get posts full of insults, but no real arguments other than saying someone is wrong. We'll get a bunch of people saying are we supposed to ignore the last 3.5 years because we are finally playing better. It's the same cycle on this board over and over. You'll get some good conversations here and there, but a big circle of posters on here love making it near impossible for any topic to actually stay on course because it constantly turns into "slurper" hate fests and constant insulting and constant "you are going off topic", "what are you trying to even say", etc. etc. when everyone can understand what is being said clearly except for the "mopers".

So before I end this post I will try and make it very simple for you all to read because I know there are some on here that will try to twist every single word to the best of their ability.

Golden is not perfect and I am not saying he has proven to be that great of a coach. However, his situation is not as great as you all make it out to be. Depth is a huge issue. It is one he is actually improving on. Another issue was teams never getting better as the years went on. They are now. I am not happy it took 3 seasons and 5-6 games for Golden to finally start hitting his stride, but I am happy he is now. It means nothing if we collapse to end the year. But it could be huge if we win out and go 9-4 in the same fashion we've been playing the latter half of the season because it will vividly show that the team and coaches have all grown and improved this season and it will be the first true sign of a change in the program since before even Coker got hired. Shannon never had a defining moment where the team played like they have been recently. Coker got worse and worse. Golden showed minimal improvement and was setback from some injuries, but then the team finally started to look like something we have not seen in a long long time. That is why some of us have optimism and it is not wrong to either because it has lasted for 2 months now and has become consistent enough that it is a true trait of the coaches and the team and that is something that typically carries on with a coach until his career is over.

Lmao this dude just tried to discredit Coach L.

He went .500 the year after he lost 9/12 players from his team? Oh God no! You'd be throwing Golden a parade. Golden beat two .500 teams and you've got 24-hr security watching you to make sure you don't break into his house and suck his dlck. Golden can't even win the Coastal despite having the best recruiting classes out of every team in that division. You're a faqq0t for trying to discredit Coach L's accomplishments, plain and simple.

And lmfao at "depth issues" in his 4th season. What a great recruiter if so. Worst part, no team is shuffling in 22 guys on each unit. We've had ZERO major injuries. Depth is NO problem.

And LMMFAO him saying Duke staying healthy would have made Miami 12-1 last year. Bltch, he's healthy and having the best year of his life with a better QB and twice as good of a defense AND WE'RE 6-4!! Did your mama used to put you in the dryer?

How bout this: take all that bullshlt you posted, print it out, slather it up REAL nice, turn that sumbltch sideways, and STICK IT STRAIGHT UP YOUR CANDY ***!!!

We have 10 players remaining from the 2011 class. Of the 33 in the 2012 class, 18 remain. Of our 21 seniors, 8 are walk-ons. Where is the depth? Any depth we have right now is freshmen. Miami has not had depth since Coker's last couple of years. He didn't field deep teams. Shannon never fielded deep teams. Golden hasn't either, but is actually improving on it and next year will be the best yet and at the rate he is improving, we'll finally be matching just about anyone in the department.

And let's look at this year. I already stated we are 6-4. I also stated the evidence is as clear as day that the team is playing so much better now that the team that started the year off. Go back and look at the years under Shannon, or even Coker's last couple years when they were actually his teams. Or even Golden's previous years here. We never dominated anyone that wasn't a Florida A&M. After going through some growing pains to start the year, the team showed notable signs of growth everywhere and we slaughtered 3 straight FBS teams. No matter how average they are, that is not something we've done in over 10 years. We also stuck right there with the best team in the nation(and a team with a pulse which you all like to say) and were a few fumbles, missed throws, and dropped TD passes away from beating. One or two plays go our way instead and we are sitting here praising Golden and the team.

We went from struggling to win consistently against average teams and getting run off the field against good teams to dominating average teams and competing the with elite. There is obvious growth. A big part of that is Kaaya and the defense playing smarter and following assignments. Go back and watch the Nebraska game. The defense played out of their minds in the worst way possible. The defense either did not understand the scheme or forgot how to play football. We never recorded a TFL despite having a number of plays where we hit Abdullah in the backfield. That We had plenty of guys freelance and not play to their assignment. The coaches also were average that game. They didn't match personnel at all times and had some questionable alignments at times. Kaaya also thought you won on the road by throwing 2 interceptions and Duke though it was okay to fumble the ball and have it be taken back for 7 when we were in the middle of a drive in their territory about to take the lead.

I am not excusing the coaches of their mistakes because they have made plenty. The players have too though. In all of the losses Kaaya did not play sound football all game. Against GT he turned it over twice in the redzone, against UL he looked like a true freshman when given chances. Against Nebraska he threw 2 costly picks. Against FSU he forgot that you play 2 halves and was missing guys left and right all 2nd half. The defense forgot their assignments and how to tackle in the Nebraska and GT losses. The players made plenty of mistakes that cost them the FSU game. The coaches had them in position to succeed a number of times, but Berrios dropped a TD that could have really put the pressure on. Dobard and Walford forgot you have to hold onto the ball. Kaaya though he would start being inaccurate in the 2nd half. The defense though all you had to do was make tackle attempts at the LOS, not finish the tackle off. Face it, there were plenty of times Cook was hit behind or right at the LOS and was able to get 6+ yards. The scheme was set up to where we had the chance to shut down the runs over and over, guys like McCord didn't execute and make tackles. The coaches can only do so much.

Anyways, you all probably won't read this either. The fact is the team is playing better than they have in a long time, it's very clear, and it's been long enough and consistent enough to not be a fluke. If this is what is the new standard under Golden, then the future is a lot brighter than what it was when we fell to 3-3.

"We would have been 11-1 with Duke last year"

:sanford:

If you quote somebody, you should probably actually quote them word for word. At the same time, I did pretty much predict everything that has happened. You guys just keep proving my point. Pointless pics and gifs, guys admitting to not reading the whole post, twisting words around and misquoting. If your posting is any indication of the way you act in life, then I am ashamed to have you call yourself a fan of this program.

Depth is an Al Golden problem. When you lose 35 of 70 players you will run into problems. Now **** you for trying to minimize what Coach L has done for Miami basketball.

Everyone knows the football team plays outside so they are affected by clouds whereas the basketball team plays indoors.

I didn't minimize anything. I clearly stated facts. We did not reach the Elite 8. UNC was bad. Duke was also bad compared to their typical standards and their defense was nothing like the average Duke defense. What we did do was win the conference in the regular season and tournament and made it to the sweet 16. Those are huge accomplishments. Coach L is a really good coach and I love the job he has done and wish he would be here forever. I can appreciate what he has done and love his doing, but also be realistic at the same time. We'll always have potential to be a threat in the ACC with coach L around and we'll have more tournament runs with him as well.

Al Golden beat:

A mid-major by 21
6-5 UNC by 27
5-5 VT by 24

2010 Shannon beat:

8-5 Pittsburgh by 28
6-6 GT by 25
8-5 UNC by 23
#24 9-4 Maryland

Uhhh..... why would Golden's 3 wins over bums get me any more hornier than Shannon's equally meaningless wins? Because they weren't sandwiched in between games vs good teams?

Or should I get an erection over the fact that we did what a lot of teams have vs FSU this season -- played em close?

I hate to pat my own back, but I thoroughly just slayed your argument here. Moving on.

The whole "no depth" thing is so overplayed and retarded. No college football team is constantly cycling in backups. Miami has the most starting talent by a wide margin vs anyone on their schedule not named FSU. And they're 6-4. If you're waiting for some team comprised of 22 starting seniors, have fun. Miami puts out 22 talented players. Kids that will play in the league. Kids GT/Loui could only dream about getting. Leaning on "depth" issues is such an overblown crutch.

We've had no injuries. Depth has never been needed. No team is cycling in 44 total kids non-stop. At most, you'll see a RB to spell your starter and some DL on long drives.

And, it's not the case, but let's say depth was a problem, just for the sake of your argument -- whose fault is that? Blame the fat slob that's had 4 recruiting classes full of garbage. Learn how to evaluate and close.

So Duke and UNC were down in basketball and so those wins aren't as impressive, but Golden beating FAMU, Arkansas St, Duke, UNC, Cincinnati, VT are considered solid wins and we are playing better than ever with a 6-4 record? **** you.

Hey guysm, Duke and UNC were down in basketball, coach L didn't really accomplish anything.

Go root for another program ******.

Duke, UNC, Nc State, were down in basketball, you call those wins?

AL GOLDEN JUST BEAT TWO .500 TEAMS AND A MID MAJOR OMG IM CUMMING!!

Yeah, 2013 Duke sucked. Only went 30-6, finished with a top 5/6/7 ranking depending on poll, spent several weeks at #1, #2 seed in the tournament and made it to the elite 8.

What a garbage *** win.

LOL Jesus. I honestly think Canes21 should be banned for saying something so blasphemous.

Do these Golden Girls have no depths to which they will travel to defend their cult leader? Is there no lie they won't tell? No moral code they won't break? No ***** they won't suck?

I love facts. You just can't run away from them. The Golden girls can pretend like they don't matter to prop up their lord and savior. But these facts don't lie.

Numbers dont lie.

That terrible Duke team artificially inflated their win total beating teams like:

#3 Kentucky
#2 Louisville (eventual national champ that knocked Duke out)
#4 Ohio State
#5 cough, cough... Miami, cough, cough

Thank you for proving my point multiple times. The only thing this topic is missing is wweownfsu typing up 8 sentences and 7 being insults and the other saying "What are you even talking about?"

It's very rare that I ever type more than four or five sentences on this forum. But that's because I can write. Secondly, you will forever be known on this forum as the guy who compared Al Golden to Bobby Bowden. Go away kid.

Do you all even read. I never one time said Duke sucked. All I said was that they had a disappointing year defensively in a weak ACC that finished with 2 teams being ranked(Duke and Miami).

I really have no idea why I continue arguing with you all or even continue to come back to the boards. It is a constant circle jerk of "fans" who root for Miami to lose every game they play in. I honestly feel embarrassed for the University after interacting with all of you. Reading comprehension is non-existent on this forum with the majority of people. I will applaud the ability to constantly add nothing to conversations and post random reacting gifs and photos, but if you actually try to talk facts with you all, 1 in ever 50 actually listens.

Go back and read my posts. Never one time did I ever say Coach L had a bad win. You all are the ones creating such statements. Then I talk about Miami finally being dominant consistently and matching an elite team. You go back to 2010 where after every one of those wins we had a collapse within 2 weeks.

Watch the film, which I doubt you all even do, and you will instantly see a team playing better the last 6 weeks than the one in the first 6 weeks. It's pretty easy to see. That's all I will say.

Yes, but not your encyclopedias on how to make Al Golden ***.

LOL.
