Question for the Board about Mark Richt

You can do far worse than Richt. He's one of the few coaching candidates that have very few black flags. Sometimes you just grow stagnant in your position as he likely needed a change of scenery. Richt's name carries a lot of weight given his success at Georgia. If he were hired, I certainly wouldn't mind one bit.

Georgia fans think they are one coach away from being Alabama, which they aren't. They could easily end up like the current Tennessee program: wishing they still had the guy who used to win 10 games but who wasn't good enough at the time.

You can judge a coach by how the fanbase reacts

Miami fans wanted Golden gone and were rejoicing

Georgia fans are collectively saying WTF. Nobody understands why Richt was fired

Richt Under-Achieved! Les Miles is underachieving at LSU!

Richt has the highest winning percentage of any coach in Georgia's history

Georgia has won 1 national title in their entire history as a program

The guy was the OC and QB coach under Bowden at FSU.

Single- handedly coached up two heisman quarterbacks

Had the #1 offense in the country 3 or 4 times

Went to GEorgia and averaged 10 wins a game in the SEC.

Dude is about as solid a hire as you can get

Way to live in the past, this is 2015.

Have you watched UGA play in the last 5 years?

I have watched UGA play the last five years. I've watched Gurley and Chubbs spend seasons on the bench and UGA lose playmakers on both sides of the ball and still win double digits.

Yeah, they were playing without a quarterback and they lost the best player in the country to injury this year

I go back and forth on Richt. He's been close, but never could get over the hump at Georgia. They lost the big games more often than not, and would often Clemson at least one or two a year. They had terrible QB play this year, but they also allowed that to happen with poor recruiting. They have the #1 QB recruit in the country committed their now, but that doesn't help them this year. They had to make do with a transfer from UVA, second string QB is also their punter, and they experimented Bauta against UF of all teams, which was crazy to me. They've had miserable QB recruiting since they got Murray and Mettenberger in the same class. They didn't get a QB last year and the kid from 2014 left school. Maybe in Miami, he could keep kids home.

I have watched UGA play the last five years. I've watched Gurley and Chubbs spend seasons on the bench and UGA lose playmakers on both sides of the ball and still win double digits.

So double digit wins is the goal now.

Not National Championship, not even conference championships. Winning 10 games is the end all.

(I'm a Butch guy)

But if Richt and not Butch, why not throw money at Herman or Patterson?

10 wins a season in the SEC is ungodly good. Who has a better resume and available then Richt?

Exactly.............That is why Georgia properly sent Richt packing!

*** him, dude was asked if the Miami job ever became open would he consider taking it.. Richt basically said on the Mike and Mikes ****** show that he would retire or go on a long vacation before he coaches at UM. I was like wow.. Punk *** Golic started laughing claiming that Miami isn't a good job. dammit mane...

SEC East isn't that good. They have basically been competing with their rival UF for most of Richt's career, he is 5-11 vs them. Would you be happy with a coach who is 5-11 vs FSU?

And here is Richt regular season record the last 8 years

9-3 No division title
7-5 No division title
6-6 No division title
10-2 Division title, lost in Confernece championship game.
11-1 Division title, lost in Conference championship game
8-4 No division title
9-3 No division title
9-3 No division title

2 10 win regular season in the last 8 years. Why should I be impressed by this?

UGA and UF have the most talent in that division by far and he isn't even winning the East. Missouri has same amount of division titles in 4 years they have been in the conference then Richt has in the last 10.

Hardcore Georgia fans gave up on Richt in 2008 when they had Stafford, AJ Green & Knowshon Moreno. They got destroyed by Alabama and Florida that year.

Richt is a solid hire and would be a huge upgrade, but the storyline would be the same here each year as it was at Georgia - beat all the teams you're supposed to beat, maybe lose a game to a lesser but respectable team, always lose the big games.

So why would that be a solid hire?

Whose fault is that? MARK RICHT!

Richt was the QB coach for two heisman winners...Charlie ward and Chris Weinke

Two of his Georgia quarterbacks are now starting in the NFL

He currently has a 5 star QB committed to him who would follow him to Miami...Eason

Richt would take Kaaya's game to another level

Who is the other UGA QB besides Stafford?

I am cool with him as an OC.................that's it!

I think a problem with this program (and our fans now) is that we have gotten so used to consistent mediocrity over the past 10 years that many fans are perfectly happy with a coach who can get us consistent 8-10 win season. Heck, some fans even drool over it.

Well, ***** that. I don't want 8-10 win seasons, I want a national championship. Is that too much to ask for? I'm sure some people will say yes, but I don't think it's unrealistic to say we can win one in the next 2-3 years. Don't settle for 9 wins a year. We are better than that.

Oh I was thinking about Aaron Murray
