Cam didn't keep it very much at all. He only had 60 "carries", and in college, sacks count as a carry. We allowed 23 sacks as a team, so he "ran" the ball about 40 times, probably a tick less.
I think Beck will be about the same. He had 60 and 55 "carries" the last 2 years.
I think the offense will be very similar, again assuming Beck is fully healthy. He didn't come here and we didn't pay him to come here to play ball-control. Dawson is going to throw it, and throw it a lot. I do think we'll be *slightly* less throw-heavy that last year, simply because I think the pass-catcher group is going to take a small step back. So you're going to rely on Fletcher, Lyle, Lofton, and Pringle a little more now that Restrepo, George, Arroyo and Horton are gone.
I just don't really see 150 touches for a guy who really doesn't have one position, but if he's truly the best player on the team then yes they should feed him, obviously. I just struggle to see 5+ catches in every game, and how often are we lining this kid up in the backfield and running straight hand-offs to him when we have Fletcher and Lyle on the sideline?
Good problem to have for Dawson. I think Lofton will be very involved, I just don't think people realize how much 150 touches is for a kid who plays part-time running back. Again, Martinez had 161 total touches in the regular season last year. And he was the feature part of the running game for most of the season, definitely the last half. Double-digit carries in every game except Ball State.
