Question for D$

Lingard is by far the most talented RB on our roster, so he needs to start and he needs to get the most carries.... full stop.

Best players need to play.

I am a Deejay Dallas fan, I think he’s extremely talented with the ball in his hands.

But Travis Homer is a top-notch back. If we feed him against Wisconsin, we win hat game. Games would get away from us when Richt went on a passing frenzy for 3 drives straight and then Travis would bring us home.

Toledo, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Syracuse, Virginia... All games that Travis Homer made plays to take control of the game when playcalling/QB dependence was costing us.

I’m not sure what you were watching all season. Kid was easily a thousand yard back if he got real carries the first four games.

He was rated the number 6 RB coming out of HS by 247 and no one ranked above him has produced how he has.

Travis Homer is going to have an unbelievable year and be the MVP of the team

I'm a fan of Homers as well, can't think of one time he let us down, another year under his belt and I feel very, very good about our RB situation for next year. Two supremely talented backs, a big ole fullback and an all purpose guy that always seems to make a play.

Eh, like 5 carries max for him on the season imo. I can see him getting some passes in the flat though off play action.
I don’t think CW brought him up because we weren’t including him in the how many carries he would get. I think he meant his blocking from the FB position and how that might factor in to our running game and short yardage.

Rereading it that makes sense lol. But still 5 carries max for him.

yall think Realus will start at fb as a freshman? Tough job to start at immediately imo

I kinda see "fullback/H-Back by committee" this year, just to keep the physical wear-and-tear down on any one player, since by and large they're all young. I think you'll see Realus, Irvin, Polendy, and the 2 freshmen TEs in a similar role as Herndon at various points in the season, though I see the freshman more in the flex-TE/Njoku role going forward. I think you'll see some of our "thicker" WRs in the run game as well chipping rushers and blocking downfield - Harris, maybe Hightower and Ezzard too.

I think Brevin is definitely in line to be used basically the exact way Herndon was which is basically all over the place from the H-back role to traditional inline TE, to flexed TE. Mallory on the other hand imo is going to be used more like a flex TE the majority of the time similar to Njoku, no h-back for him.

But yeah in the redzone as long as we stop with the bs we were doing last year of having berrios or Richards making key downblocks on LBs and put someone like Polendey or Mallory to do that out of the slot I'll be happy. That was ridiculous.

In a few years our Power Goalline formation:

Njoku.............................................LT...LG...C...RG...RT...Jordan..............Mallory/Hightower
......................................................................QB
................................................................................Realus
......................................................................Burns

what if we teach Deejay Dallas to take snaps under center and use him as our goal line qb....that would be crazy...or just use a pistol formation with Realus on the side of him and Burns behind.

If we can increase our 3rd Down conversion, then all of those boys can eat! 3rd downs killed us on Offense last year. 28% was the conversion rate. We left a lot of TDs on the field! That should be the priority this spring, and heading into Fall camp! We were 125th last year, and still went 10-3. That's what separated us from being a good team to a really really great team!

Totally agree about Jordan's role going forward - I'm thinking specifically early in the season as far as S&C goes, his body just might not be quite ready to take over for Herndon full-time yet, so I think we'll see multiple bodies there early on.

Also Dallas on 3rd and goal in the wildcat should be a no-brainer. Kid has a nose for the endzone and just picks up positive yards every time he touches the ball. Reminds me a little of Dallas Crawford that way (though way more talented as a runner than Crawford was of course.)

Yeah dude a ****king Pistol power I formation with Brevin and Mallory on the field and Realus at FB just needs to ******* happen. And if Deejay can throw fades, having Njoku out wide is easy money.

Teach Deejay the jump pass and we'd never kick a field goal from the 5 yard line again! =P

I think Homer and Dallas are criminally underrated and undervalued on this board. Both will have a huge impact next season.

I expect The Ambassador to log a good amount of snaps for a true fr and wouldn't be surprised if Davis saw some action as the season goes on.

Burns is the wild card. We definitely have some dogs in the backfield, just need the OL to continue to improve as well as the QB play.

Agree. Our run game was extremely pedestrian with the exception of one or two games (VT especially.)

That's because we didn't know what homer was capable of and lets be honest he didn't want gray in, so he only saw Walton as the only option to really do anything. but now he has options for any type of offense he wants to run for the run game. I would love to see a goal line offense with homer, lingard and George in the back field
