I'd be happy with Nelson or Jefferson if it ain't Ward or Howard.

Nelson would be super intriguing. Looking at this year's CFP with Ewers and Pennix there is evidence that shows having a transfer QB who isn't just a one-year rental has some value.

So IF we end up whiffing on Ward and Howard despite having significantly the best (and quite frankly, over the top) NIL offer on the table…Mario’s reputation with QBs must be just fine right?

Surely both kids are cancers, or whatever methods of coping you want to put on it. Guess we’ll see how it all shakes out. Would be thoroughly disappointed if we can’t land either guy.

It’s not necessarily binary. Ward and Howard could end up elsewhere and their decisions might have little or nothing to do with Mario.

For Ward, it could be the lure of playing in the NFL, a life-long dream. For Howard, he might prefer a smaller town or playing in an offense that will showcase his passing skills to improve his NFL stock.

Alternatively, both players might believe Mario and Dawson suck and no amount of money would entice them to play here.

The point is that we just don’t know. And, pushing the “Mario is the QB Killer” narrative doesn’t help.
