QB Bud Foster Interesting comments

Funny, considering Bud Foster was a 27-year old linebackers coach with three years coaching experience at Murray State when Virginia Tech hired him to coach up linebackers in 1987—literally a "nincompoop off the street" who grew into the job.

Took him nine seasons before Beamer turned over the keys for him to be defensive coordinator; a gig he's held ever since.

Wow. A 60-year old coach who's held the same job since 1995 actually knows what he's taking about—in comparison to some guys who are five games into their respective new gigs.

You don't f**king say.

If he is not qualified he shouldn't have the job. You don't hire coaches to learn on the job.

I am not sure this program can wait 9 years for Blake and Patke to "acquire coaching wisdom". This program is on life support and needs veteran coaches..

Mike Harley bless his heart is a gamer but is too small to make contested catches in the middle of the field. DBs move through him like toilet paper
Perry going to make sure he gets his catches too. Always looking for harley no matter what lol

For as much as Manny preaches competition I do t get how they keep trotting Zion Nelson out at LT.

I thought Scaife was serviceable there last year. **** give Herbert a chance, I don’t care

Every week that goes by, all the phrases, cliches and hashtags Manny was spouting remind me more and more of Richt and Golden when they were exposed as being ****ty head coaches

The more one yaps, the less likely he is to doing what he says.

He said straight up that Williams doesn't have arm strength and he thought his guys could undercut some balls, which is obviously what happened. Now that it's clear opposing DC's are thinking this and it's proven to work, we can expect to see opposing teams do this and it will be up to Williams to actually get some more power on his throws as many people claim he is capable. That's assuming he stays the starter.

I thought Perry looked better than Williams and I'd like to see what Martell can do. Season is essentially over already, we need to at least figure out our QB room for next year.

If you have no ol like we do, you need a an who can scramble. Put N’Kosi and Martell in

Jarren never had a howitzer. But his shoulder is fcked right now, so his average arm is now way below average. He had nothing on his passes yesterday, and it’s criminal they threw him out there with what is likely a separated throwing shoulder.

Yep. That first series tought me all I needed to see to know we were/are fvcked. No further data is needed.

Spread the field on first down, the entire defense is within 7 yards of the LOS, and we run a **** draw, like it was really gonna catch em off guard. Next two plays, 2nd and 3rd and long, heavy bunch sets, again the entire defense on top of the ball spot, and we’re trying to throw short into the crowd instead of scheming something open. That game was a night and day clinic of one team getting out coached by the other by a MASSIVE margin.

Jarren had ZERO chance to succeed doing what he was asked to do yesterday. And yes, his throwing shoulder is clearly injured.

There is legitimately no reason for hope with this coaching staff.

Worse than Al Golden throwing Stephen Morris to the wolves with a bad leg. At least he could still pass the ball. Williams definitely looked like something was wrong with his arm.

I'm not ready to give up on Jarren. Perry got waaaaay better calls than Williams has had all year. I'd like to see Williams run the offense pEnos was FORCED to call yesterday.

I was Kosi Hive all off season and wanted him to win the job.

I liked Williams’ potential and have been impressed by many aspects of his game.

Both he and Kosi can win games for us, but we have a poor offensive identity that doesn’t fit our skill set.

Call the offense all year like first drive against Uf or the second half of v tech and Williams would be even better.

Still if he is hurt, bench him. He was not himself yesterday. As long as Kosi can keep the picks to 2 or less most games, he will get yards and points. Just can’t be fumbling.

He could drive the ball in HS. It wasn't a power arm but it got the job done. I haven't seen him drive a ball once this year. It's obvious he's lost some speed with his shoulder action. It's gotta be painful to play through.

Deep balls about timing. I think his arm is strong enough..but his timing is off
Waits too long.

Most big plays deep are thrown quickly as soon as the one on one is identified.

Jarren doesn’t trust his eyes and is too careful on throws over 20 yds.

If he would have high pointed the pick in the end zone, that game would have been completely different.

I gotta say I’m baffled right now. We got a pretty good sample size on Kosi. You’re gonna love him and hate him. Certainly doesn’t cement himself in an apparent mediocre QB room. Got a decent sample size of Jarren. Dude gets a pass like no other. My eyes say zero spark from that position and a slooow moving offense when he’s in. My question is, how bad is Martell? Not hearing a peep about a guy who was highly coveted in the offseason. Why did we pursue him? To be a WR when we are supposed to be loaded with talent there? Stupid. Doesn’t this position appear wide open? So confused as to why he gets zero conversation? Wasn’t he a highly touted recruit?? Season appears lost. Why not see what else we have at this point? Got a 5* kid on our roster that got “edged” out. A spread, running 5* QB. Are we gonna ignore he’s on the roster and could use a shot?

While i was impressed with Perry yesterday in most of his moments i completely agree with This. Felt like we were much more creative playcalling wise after we were down a lot of points

Agree
We need to plaugerize that TE delaying and running to the opposite side of the field play; the one they burnt us on twice.

If Jarrens ******* injured then he shouldnt be allowed to play until he is healthy. Its unfair to him, his teammates, and the fans.

It was clear to anyone who was being objective that the Offense was limited with Jarren in there.

Not into conspiracy theories, but I think Mannys worst nightmare occurred Saturday : a Qb controversy. This is something he was desperate to avoid, and he was prepared to eek out wins with a hobbled Jarren rather than take a chance on Perry or Martell balling out and having to answer questions about it.

Makes no sense, right? Exactly. These dudes overthink EVERYTHING and coach scared. Amateurs.

Ohio State told the kid to leave without even having seen Fields at practice. That should give you a great idea of how good he is at the college level.

Let go of the recruiting rankings. 2 college staffs are telling you what they see.

Interesting that the DC says Perry is harder to defend than Williams.

But we continue to start Williams.

Not a good look from the HC to stick with the guy that’s yet to make any plays against legit completion. Especially when the other guy on the roster just threw for 450 and 4 TDs.
