2027 QB Board (2027 Edition)

One name that has surged up the board internally is five-star Elijah Haven. The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder is considered the No. 1 player at the position next cycle and the No. 2 overall player.

The Hurricanes have had elite quarterback play in each of the past two seasons with Cam Ward and Carson Beck under center, and could turn up the heat on a premier arm in the junior class.

Haven is a Baton Rouge (La.) Dunham School product who has thrown for nearly 1600 yards with 24 touchdowns to three interceptions as a junior, while completing nearly 70 percent of his passes. He's also averaging 18.3 yards per completion. Haven has also added 335 rushing yards and three more scores on the ground.

As a three-year starter, Haven has amassed 4619 yards with 71 touchdowns to seven interceptions as a passer, while totaling 1039 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground.

Dawson, a Louisiana native, has also explored Fairhope (Ala.) St. Michael Catholic's Gunner Rivers, the son of 8-time Pro Bowl quarterback Phillip Rivers, as we reported during the first bye week.

Seaborn continues to be a top priority for Miami, but Haven is a new name to track for the Hurricanes this fall. Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Alabama are a few programs in the thick of things.

Sounds like we plan to go after #1 QB Elijah Haven as well as Seaborn

They already have a composite top 100 QB committed for ‘27, so I wouldn’t think so.
Maybe he wanted too much money but should it be a little concerning that LSU isn’t going after the top QB that’s right down the road from them?

26 cycle is over, this is now the primary QB recruiting thread.

interesting how we don't seem to have any real target in mind at this point when they should be the head of the class typically. Impacts of always taking portal QBs, scared to invest big money in high schooler, or other?

I feel like the strategy is to spend money on the best Portal QB possible annually and then target HS kids with tools and upside. HS QB recruiting has become an insurance game.

Agree. Don't see any reason to pay a bunch of money to a 4 or 5 star HS QB anymore. They will be available in the portal if they show out in college. Just sign a couple of cheap, high upside kids each cycle from HS. They probably won't, but if one of them becomes a Cam or Mensah you will save a ton of money and have a multi-year starter.

Mestemaker, Sorsby, Mensah this year all were low ranked/unranked HS QBs. Mateer, Mendoza, Mensah (again), Gronowski last cycle. Cam, Howard, Leonard, Gabriel, Sorsby (again) 2 cycles ago. Take those types in numbers out of HS, and eventually you'll hit on one or two.

Joe Sloan is now the OC at Kentucky. He was the main recruiter for Peyton Houston. So Houston may still end up at LSU, but something to keep our eye on. Lane had a QB who doubles as a MLB pitching prospect committed to him at Ole Miss, and the #1 QB in the country is Elijah Haven is from Louisiana. D$ posted we had some traction with Haven but that seemed to sizzle out quickly.

The two in-state names that are popping up a lot, and our coaches have visited, are Wonderful Monds IV and Davin Davidson.

The other QB that is interesting but rarely mentioned is Gunnar Rivers. He’s a NC State legacy, and has some visits to Freeze-era Auburn on his page & to Texas for a camp; but 247 doesn’t list any leaders.

I’d put the Florida kids as us having a decent chance of them being our QB this cycle; and Gunnar Rivers and Peyton Houston as the on the outside looking in. Other than those guys, haven’t seen us linked to anyone.

Qb recruiting can be a musical chairs situation but it’s a position that’ll be mostly wrapped up within the next 6 months.

Monds, Seaborn, Lawrence and Davidson are the ones in the article.
Cristobal and company are on the road visiting top quarterback targets and one of the first stops after playing in the title tilt was to see Vero Beach (Fla.) High four-star Champ Monds.
......
The Monds family looks forward to visiting Coral Gables down the road.
.....
As Seaborn said he’s locked in but the Hurricanes will do what they can to get him to reconsider.
....
The Rivals Industry’s No. 4 ranked passer in the 2028 class is considering a reclassification to 2027...Miami offered Lawrence first back in June of 2023 and he has spent a lot of time around Cristobal and the program.
.....
Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney quarterback Davin Davidson is seeing his stock soar with coaches on the road. One of his new offers came from Dawson and Miami.
...
“The staff has been recruiting me for a while now"
