Wasn't a rumor that he was going to transfer. His father came out the week of and stated that father and son Richt both worked to convince him to stay at Miami.

Dude Brooklyn posted here that he was going to transfer and within days of the post, his own father confirmed it. Richt and Jr had to meet with him and lay out a plan to ensure he'd be given a legitimate shot in '19, that's when he decided to stay. There were quotes that confirmed it.
