People like to give DMoney **** about Lofton, but he was just calling it how he saw it. Also, he wasn't the only one gassing up Lofton. The current players, former players, coaches, and the media were all raving about his performance

There were a few extraordinary takes D$ put out that allowed the Lofton hype to take rare air. Namely, D$ said Lofton was the best football player on the team. TE or LB, it don’t matter; Lofton got it like that. Mind you, we had 3 1st-round picks on said team. Also, in contrast, Lake came on the preseason hype pod and was like, Yeah, Lofton is a fine player, but he’s undersized and is sort of a gadget guy. Really was textbook July CFB podcasting fodder.

When he said that, I assume he meant the best weapon on the team. Also, he definitely wasn't the only person to say that. You should have heard what an all-time great said about him....

For added context, the Lofton comments were in the spring when he was balling. He looked to me like the best all-around player on the team. Mario said on record that he'd be our best LB if he played the position, and multiple staffers said he was our best RB. The year before, Cam compared him to Deebo Samuel. I personally saw Lofton run for 150+ yards and 2 TDs against the ones in a full-contact scrimmage.

By August 2025, he was hurt and heavy. The hype had shifted to players like Malachi Toney and Bryce Fitzgerald. I hope he stays healthy and shows everyone what he can do.

Will he be ready this year to ball out as our best player or this injury he was able to play all season on gonna still linger? That is the question

I wish I knew. He looked lean when I saw him. Would love to see him closer to the 230s than the 250s.

Is he in shape is the real question? We all saw Bain play out of shape in 2024 and then he got his body right and was obviously unreal last year.

Dude ceiling is like a dimitri flowers from OU #2 TE, where you can get him on pop passes and stuff but more secondary to a true miami TE like Mark Andrews who we dont have, so in that same-ish type of system we just ask him to do too much and he will always be physically limited

You have to use Lofton in his own role. He’s not going to stretch out into that 6’5 TE body. He’s more of a fullback who can run the ball and catch the ball at a higher level.

The key for him is regaining his quickness. If he doesn’t have his quickness, the rest of his game falls apart because he lacks length. He is capable of more in terms of separating and running with the ball than we saw last year.

Thats why I said dimitri flowers, he was more fb type hback for those baker mayfield OU teams
