Putting the “concern” on paper

Mario was a coward on the 4th down. dude was def scared broom would go for it on fourth if he called the timeout
He had no reason to worry Brohm would go for it. He already had 3 timeouts. I think letting it go to halftime as the right move. They punt and we likely start the drive backed up against our own endzone. At that point you’re what hoping to drive down the field in 30 seconds? And if you fail, you’re punting the ball, Louisville gets the ball near FG range with possibly some of its TOs

The worst thing about Becks 2nd INT wasn't even the actual Interception (as bad as it was!). Its that it'd make our already conservative coaches, even bigger lil ******* than they normally like to be... They turtled and went into a complete shell.

Like you just know when you're entire mentality is to be conservative and slow with a "lets not score too fast now" mentality, you're just ******* dumb. You know whats worse than scoring fast? Not scoring at all. Meanwhile if our QB doesn't play perfect, they just decide to basically give up. Pay no attention to the fact their their entire run gameplan is completely ineffective.

Literally when your ENTIRE philosphy can be destroyed by A) A single penalty B) A single non 4+ yard run on 1st down C) Any mistake by your Qb, D) Any lead of 10 pts.... then what your doing is bad,
When you play and watch enough football you just can feel those momentum moments when they happen

Might be the 2nd quarter (that end of the first half into the second half area is crucial as we know) might be the 4th

I feel like all Mario thinks about is the end of the game

Sometimes in baseball you need to bring your closer in the 6th or you’ll never have a lead in the 9th but people don’t do it

Defense was shell shocked and clearly rusty at first but they gave us many chances to take back this game and…whelp

You’re getting the ball coming out of the half. Absolutely no issue letting the half run out. You start the game down 14-0, and you get it to 14-10 at the end of the half, you’re getting the ball. Once Louisville that that 2nd first down there was no way any coach is pushing the envelope. You’re right where you wanna be at the half after starting in a 14-0 hole. Down by 4, getting the ball.

If people wanna ***** about something, ***** that we came out of the half and went three and out.

I’m not disagreeing with you, and you make a valid point, but I’ve been thinking about this lately. Why do so many teams look great one week, and horrendous the next? Actually, it’s not even game to game anymore, it’s quarter to quarter. I watch a lot of football and it’s amazing how many teams I see who look incredible one half and a shell of themselves the next. Some of it is adjustments, sure, but I honestly think some of it has to do with the mentality of some of these 18-20 year olds now. They’re so distracted by other crap it’s hard getting them ready to play. I tell people all the time, I think one of the most frustrating things for CFB coaches these days is keeping them motivated week after week after week. I remember watching Saban during his prime tearing into players on the sideline when they were up by 45. That was my biggest fear with this team, that they still lacked that killer instinct. It’s gotten better, but still a long ways to go.
All fair points and I agree

The whole thread wasn’t necessarily a “mope” angle but there was a lot of talk about offensive lulls and whatnot so I wanted to actually write it down

I don’t expect a team to just juggernaut their way through a season. Certainly not us. As you said just turn on the tv any given Saturday and you’ll see absolutely wild stuff

The entire Top 25 is in shambles really

The reasons are being debated non stop and of course there’s never just one thing

Just things to note as the season rolls along

Still thinking they are a mope?

It’s how we’ll lose to freaking Stanford or one of the “cold weather” games in late November. Just can’t finish games because the offense goes into a shell. FSU didn’t magically adjust from the 3rd quarter to the 4th quarter.
what do Mario / Mirabell think going into. a shell works? to beat a playoff team, you have to score and score. some more
