Props to Beck

Beck's 3 best games so far have all been road games. Maybe not statistically, but he's looked more comfortable and been more accurate than at home. Yes, I know that INT in OT at SMU was a killer, but he was very good up to then.

We could have had more opportunities to score if the defense didn’t allow VT to run it all over them.

Still, a very good game for Beck.
Agree, didn’t see the intensity at the beginning against the run, saw corners playing off.
Did Heatherman know Drones was a bigger threat running the ball than throwing it.
I thought that was a very poor game from Heatherman/ Defense.

I was at the game, it was miserable watching this HC try to plod his team through another ACC game. The QB was on fire, the run game went back to one play again with 170lb freshman back up the middle and kept bogging the offense down. Ridiculous penalties again and the defense finally played a bad game. VT is horrible on both sides of the ball.
Stop attending games. You’re clearly the reason why they played horrifically.

Facts don’t fit the narrative.

It was a good play by the defender but you can also realize you’re not on the beach with your girlfriend throwing you a Nerf ball. You’re gonna get hit, extend with strong hands and snatch the ball to your body the instant it hits your hands. Roll your back to the defender. Good play by the DB but also soft by Bauman. Two things can be true. Football is a violent, contact sport. Anticipate it.

TE’s have been underwhelming at best although Lofton seems to be getting a bit more targets. Hopefully, the youngin’s live up to the hype next year.

But this board expects video game numbers against everyone.

We should put up video game numbers when we play the 100th ranked defense. And we have the last 2 games. Problem is, if you’re a championship offense, you don’t have multiple games where you’re average. Regardless of the defense you play. So when we’ve played bad defenses, we’ve cooked. When we’ve played above average defenses, we’ve been average.

21 against Louisville, with 8 of those coming off a turnover where we got the ball in the red zone.

20 against SMU.

I don’t expect a ceiling game every week. But we’ve been average multiple times this year. Good offenses don’t do that. 1-2 times a year you can play your B- or C+ game and you can expect the other side to carry you. But there were far too many times this year where we were pedestrian on offense.

Probably has something to do with the opponents we played...

Not exactly Ohio ST & Oklahoma Defenses out there.
Oh for sure.. he just looks a lot more comfortable and less hard for him. But your point is a big factor

In a year that there has been no real standout qb play other than Mendoza , pavia, ty Simpson and my guy BYRUM BROWN lol, beck is quietly having a nice season and has since rebounded from that Louisville game

And one of those drives the ball was snapped 15 yards over Becks head, drive ender. Another drive we had a pathetic holding call, again drive ender.

It was a very weird game. We only had 8 offensive possessions, which is crazy low.

But on those 8:

4 Touchdowns
2 field goals
2 punts

34 offensive points on 8 possessions is 4.25 points per drive. Last year, with the best offense we’ve ever seen, we averaged 3.83 points per drive. So, yeah. Not too shabby yesterday.

But we don’t go fast, and we were very efficient but we didn’t have many super quick drives. Pair that with them running for almost 200 yards, you get a very shortened game. But 4.25 a possession is historical for a whole season. We played well on offense. As I said I suspected we would all week because VT is ******* pathetic.

Yeah I think we had 2 drives longer than 8 minutes. Also didn’t help that Va tech went on 4th down like 10 times that game

Just don't understand why we went away from Lofton. Seemed to be working earlier in the game. Did VT defense tighten up around middle of the field? Didn't really see them chip Lofton off the line
