I still really believe we're in good hands with the coaching staff including Gattis. If the following things happen, we finish with 10-12 wins (including post-season):
  • Focus more on the TE's. They continue to seem like an after-thought. They need to be the main course, not a side dish. The TE's should be a significant part of the O going forward.
  • Make Jacolby the #1 WR. He showed it last year and tonight, that he is THAT GUY. They need to scheme the passing game around him and if other WR's decide to catch the ball, then they can get some occasional tosses, but make #15 the #2 focus of the passing game after the TE's.
  • Run the ball more.
  • Brashard needs to be the #3 focus of the pass game.
  • The D just needs to continue improving. Although we weren't playing against an Offensive colossus, they looked the part...mostly.
  • If the secondary can keep playing like that throughout the year, coupled with our DL continuing to improve, we might really have a nice D on our hands.
Other thoughts:
I predicted that we'd go 10-2 regular season and that's still my prediction.
That OL of ours is vastly improved! If the D continues to improve and we get at least one WR to consistently make plays, we can beat everybody left on our schedule including Clemson. Not saying we will beat CU - they will probably beat us in Death Valley - but we COULD beat them if we improve in the areas I've laid out.

Nothing has changed. I said this is a flawed team that lacks depth and talent but if it stays healthy 9 wins is possible. But we can lose to most teams are the schedule if we don’t play well. As conservative as this offense is the d will have a lot of pressure on them.

Two more losses.
I'd say Clemson and Pitt, but for whatever reason, we seem to own Pitt. I think we finish up 10-2. We're good enough to beat everyone not named Clemson. Even the WRs will be better, on account of the competition they're playing.

It’s still winnable. But yeah if I had to pick our losses this year it’s likely Clemson, UNC, Pitt in that order. But we only have 2 gimmes left.
UNC can score, but their defense is horrendous. Our D will be the best one they've faced all year. It's one of those games where we need to generate a few stops, and that'll do it. We'll have big issues if our O can't score on that D.

The Clemson game may be winnable if our offense starts clicking but I doubt it’ll click.

I think tonight proved that we can absolutely hammer the rock, too. That will help

Completely agree. Also, the teams on our schedule not named Clemson or Pitt have looked whatever this year. We need to get over the UNC hump, but they're not the team people have been portraying on this board. They have a very talented QB and O, but their D is one of the worst in the country.

For UM fans it was an embarrassing performance but I don't think it's going to be viewed by most of the national media as an embarrassing loss. That TAMU team is the 4th most talented in the country, was playing at home after a shocking loss to a G5, and was angry. Despite shooting ourselves in the foot repeatedly with drops and penalties, UM still had several opportunities to tie the game in the 4th quarter. With our previous coach, we lose this game by 21+. If Restrepo had been healthy, I think we would have won the game.

The pleasant surprise was the defense. I think the O will eventually get it figured out, but if the D can give this type of effort in acc play, we should run through the coastal.
