Pro Canes Showing Out

I hate to say this, but there are a whole lot of Al Golden’s guys in the league.

The guy knew how to recruit. He just couldn't win against a decent opponent. Wed have half the verbally-committed class flip on us before signing day because of how bad we looked on the field, and be thin as ice in the Everglades with 65 kids on roster, including 15 JAGs. But the other half of those classes had guys like Duke, AQM, Chad Thomas, Chris Herndon, Njoku, Walton, Stacey Coley, Deon Bush, etc.

There were absolutely some ballers. Just no play callers.

From ESPN: We have 56 Players currently on teams. That number will go down a fair amount when we get to 53-man rosters + practice squads. But looking at the names, most of these guys are set to stick with their teams or somewhere else in the league.

I disagree on Golden knowing how to recruit. He flailed around, took too many kids who folks knew couldn’t play here, signed kids who couldn’t enroll, and generally had not clear focus or strategy. He also shied away from kids being recruited by major competitors after his first year embarrassments, iirc.

He got some good local guys for sure (Duke, Howard, Flowers, Bush and Thomas). I credit him with TE evals (Njoku and Herndon), and likewise, Dorito was pretty darn good on LB evals, even if some of the kids couldn’t stay in school (Jackson, Grace, Paul). But nothing defends the offers he gave to Hope, V. Davis, D’Mauri Jones, D. Dillard, J. Briscoe, Loftus, Milo.

Being the Miami Hurricanes recruited those kids. That f’ing loser is/was a horrible coach. Almost killed the program. F him and his fat f*ck friend. That is all.

Go Canes!

Has anyone on CIS looked at Cane NFL players by coach (let's say, per year)? Too lazy to do it myself, but it would be interesting.
