Pride in the ACC?

With Miami back rolling, I want ACC to be a competitive conference with as many good games as possible. Will I sit there and root for individual FSU or VT games? No, but in the overall picture I grew up loving those games because those teams were good.
 
I pull for the ACC. Mainly because I can't stand the talking heads in the medial slobbering over the SEC all the time. If the ACC gets stronger, then we hear less of it.

That said, I hate FSU and if they lose to *anyone* it does my heart good.
 
Just Miami! That's it! I get a tingling sensation, when their enemies lose.. I even chuckle, quietly, and of course loudly afterwards!!

I root for the opponent of anyone ranked in front of us. Only exception is during bowl season, then I root for whoever is playing an SEC team and all ACC teams

BC vs VT
NCSt vs UNC
Clemson vs GT
All ACC when facing OOC opponents
All teams when facing SEC teams especially Bama and UF!
All teams when facing OSU or ND
The refs when there is a tie (OSU vs ND, Bama vs UF, Clemson vs UL)

That is my order.

I know a lot of you are saying well I root for the ACC to help Miami's SOS. But I see all the time in the past years you guys rooting for the ACC and it clearly was not for SOS because we were not winning anything. We have not been a situation where we need a SOS to get to the championship game since joining the ACC.
 
I want ACC teams to win strictly because it helps Miami. I don't particularly care about any other team, I just realize that the more winning teams the ACC has, the better it looks when Miami beats them. People ***** and complain all the time about the SEC preseason rankings bias and how much easier it is for an SEC team to climb the rankings because perception is that their wins are more significant. Imagine if the national media treated the ACC like that. I certainly wouldn't complain. Strength of schedule is crucial, especially if you ever want to make the four team playoff. If Miami rolls the ACC and the rest of the league sucks, you can bet dollars to donuts that some 1 loss SEC or Big10 team would jump them into the playoff.

But pounding your chest probably doesn't feel as good as it did as an independent in the past.
 
How the ACC looks in non conference games only helps Miami so why wouldn't you root for ACC teams?

One reason that Bubba Goobersmooch is prone to chant "S-E-C!" is also the absence of the proliferation of professional sports in many SEC "markets". If you grow up in or near a city following pro sports in addition to and with equal love of your college team then you almost have a different perspective. You'd NEVER take divisional or conference/league pride when you hate the guts of a New York team or a Boston team or a LA team. A lot of these hilljacks ONLY have their college team as the main source of their passion so they'll support ANYTHING, even ghey conference pride, that they believe boosts that brand and reinforces their derived self-worth from it. And once that nonsense gets going and is bolstered by the media then even the "big city" folk in Atlanta and Nawlins start mimicking it.

That said, there's a hilljack lack of intellect involved here too as the farmers that comprise a few Big Ten fanbases only have their college teams too and wouldn't be caught dead trying to attach themselves to the glory of OSU or maybe Michigan.

Yes, 100%

1. Better bowls including CFP. Not having an ACC team making the CFP will cost Miami 2-3mil. Having two teams make it will increase revenue 2-3.
2. Better media rights leverage
3. More butts in the stands
4. Lower costs for recruiting or better recruits as top recruits want to play in packed stadiums against top schools.

1&2 are via ACC rev sharing. The better the bowl means the more money Miami makes but it still will make north of 25mil. The CFP team makes the most.
3&4 are direct Miami costs and revenue. Every ranked team Miami brings to town adds more revenue as more fans show up. I except Miami to sell out the rest of the home games especially against Pitt & UNC.
