How'd that work out for Randy

Are you serious.

Randy was a terrible recruiter.

Yet had hgher ranked classes than Charlie ever did......hmmm. Check your history. Strong is horrible. He beat 1 top 25 team in his career at UL.

Bahahahahaha.

Randy was at miami. Strong was at Louisville.

So Strong is at Texas now, but I guess that argument only applies when it works for you. Hmmmm.

Charlie's recruiting was due to a guy who is now banned from the NCAA. The reason he is struggling to recruit is his team is horrible and he's not a great recruiter without Hurtt.

A black guy recruiting in texas is not easy.

Strong won 6 games in Year 1 at Texas. He'll certainly finish Year 2 with fewer victories since they're currently 4-6 and still have to face Texas Tech & Baylor. They're ranked 93rd in total offense and 92nd in total defense. Their 2016 class is ranked 51st with only 3 four-star commits. Strong botched their OC situation and then scapegoated his hand-picked playcaller one game into the season.

Anyone willing to completely overlook just how disastrous he's started at Texas is placing entirely too much emphasis on having watched his Louisville teams pummel a Golden-coached Miami squad twice. Strong doesn't have the slightest clue what he's doing offensively and his defense, which is supposed to be his strong suit (no pun intended), is getting annihilated on a weekly basis.

There should be no excuses about Strong being a bad fit at UT, especially from a fan base that heard so many clueless ******** make similar comments about Golden at UM. Strong may ultimately turn it around there if they're patient, but UM would be crazy to make him a top priority after seeing him struggle so mightily at another tradition-rich Power 5 program.

I do think he would do better at miami then at texas.

Well ya he would. He would be in his home recruiting grounds etc. Would make him a little better. But the fact is.. he is being exposed as a COACH. Has nothing to do with culture, recruiting, or fan base support that would make him a better fit. He's proving to be another Muschamp

My belief is this.

Texas kids grow up playing for white coaches. South Florida kids grow up playing for black coaches. He was really able to sale that to south florida recruits while he was at Louisville

So, we should re-hire Shannon, and Texas, David McWilliams. Got it.

THIS! We have hard evidence that the guy sucks as a P5 coach.

whats the fascination with charlie strong, without Teddy B, he is hot garbage as a head coach.

I don't get this line of thinking. So he gets no credit at all for getting Teddy B to Louisville?
And on top of that he'd have Kaaya for at least one more year.

The only reason he had Teddy was because Radio was fired. Period. And wtf does having Kaaya have anything to do with a defensive corch?

He wasn't exposed. He went the wrong way when he tried to install a spread offense at Texas because most Big XII schools run it. His offensive philosophy is a drop back passer.

Randy was a good recruiter. His problem was that he couldn't bring in quality coaches to develop the talent.

He's a defensive coach.. and his defense has been terrible. I'm not concerned with his offense. (I am, but it can be fixed with a good OC) Without the right coordinator they are going to struggle, though. The defense is supposed to be his thing, and they are in the 100s just like the offense.

Strong was smart to want to install a spread in a loaded recruiting base where, as he admitted at the time, "98 percent of high schools in this state are in a spread offense."

Where Strong f***** up was when he decided to retain Shawn Watson -- who is a slow paced, pro-style, West Coast OC -- to install a spread. Even though he had zero experience teaching an up-tempo modern spread. Strong wanted to change philosophies, but he didn't go all-in and it backfired horribly.

He did bring in a top 10 class last year. He would be fine recruiting here just like anyone should be. There is too much talent in Miami and talent will never be an issue. We were 6-7, the worst season in years and we still had 7 guys drafted and 9-10 on NFL rosters. Idc about a recruiter. We need a coach and a coach that has proved he can win with less. Who I think of that comes straight to mind is Gary Patterson. I would have even said Strong when he was at UL. But the fact is he went to Texas and he isn't winning with more.. well he actually has less talent than he did at UL, but way more assets and resources. He proved himself once, and now he has completely fallen off.
