To be fair, 6-7 in year one is nothing and I don't want to look into it too much.

This year UT is 4-6. They should have tied the game against Cal and had all of the momentum and they should have forced OT against Okie State.

Beating OU was a very good win. Being shutout by Iowa State is ugly. Losing to TCU the way they did is ugly. Losing to Notre Dame the way they did is ugly. Even the WVU loss is not pretty.

So despite a great win over OU and a very good game against Okie State, there are also some ugly losses that cannot be ignored. I haven't watched every Texas game, but I do know that offense doesn't have great weapons, but that doesn't excuse the defense for being so poor. Last year his defense was top 25 in yards and I believe top 30 in points.

This year the defense has regressed tremendously. I would be very nervous if Strong was hired and hiring a great offensive staff would be required for me to believe there would be any success. I would trust him with the defense despite this years regression, but offense would need major attention.

This whole non-talent thing is ridiculous. I'm not sure who started it but Coach Strong should thank them. Their starting 0:

Strong is only in his second season and has 1 recruiting class and people are already saying he failed. The best players on the team are frosh. Among draft eligible players, texas doesn't have one player projected to be drafted.

By definition, a two-year losing record at University of Texas constitutes failure.

Look at the recruiting rankings for the last 5 years. There is absolutely no excuse for Strong to oversee two consecutive losing seasons with the talent on that team.

What talent? No one on the team is projected to get drafted.

And how many players are expected to be drafted from the Iowa state team that beat Texas 24-0?

I will wait to next year to make a final decision on strong. Those young guys would have experince and a year of development. If they are not better next year then i will jump on board and agree he failed.

It's hilarious. Guys will throw out Butch's first two year at a program for any dumb *** excuse they could find but will crucify Strong for his first two years.
