Preseason AP Poll Out - Canes Ranked #7

There’s a top tier and everyone else. The difference between 7 and 8 is dang near the distance between 7 and 1.
**** THAT... WTF DOES NOTRE DOME HAVE PROVEN AT RB LET ALONE AT WR...WE KNOW WHAT'S UP COME JAN 25 2027 IN VEGAS

Trumpycane will go with A&M

Brutal schedule
First time play caller at OC
Reed struggled towards end of season (figured out?)
Replacing plenty of Oline starters

of all the teams on that list, A&M is the most likely candidate, yes.

ND, Auburn, Arkansas, and South Carolina were all 1 poss wins to go along with their losses to Texas and Miami. On average they'd finish that season with 3 losses if simulated 100+ times over.
Given the schedule will be harder this year, they're projected at 8-4 with a variance of 9-3 best case and 7-5 worst case. They're the most likely culprit making TrumpyCane the winner here.

My name is a private school so how would they know?
a private school fka @SinisterCane this was in the article:

CBS Sports polled more than 50 industry sources -- a mix of Power Four athletic directors, general managers, personnel executives, salary cap experts, agents and boosters -- and discovered there are multiple Power Four programs in the $40 million or more-range on their football roster for the 2026 season.

I am fine with being #7 assuming that anyone 1-6 drops below us with a loss. I could see some late season shenanigans/ excuse making for an SEC team based the "arrhhggg, muh schedule was too hard" justifications.

My question is why is Tennessee #20 they were not particularly good last year and I have not heard anything about them this year that makes me think they will be better. We all know why but god is it annoying how the SEC has their circle jerk in the preseason annually.

Vs #2 Oregon
@ #5 Texas
@ #6 Indiana
@ #14 USC
Vs #16 Michigan
@ #22 Iowa

It’s pre season so the rankings don’t mean much but those are the teams osu plays this year. Would not surprise me if they lose 2 games this year

Last time two big 10 teams occupied 1 and 2 was 1961 (Iowa and OSU).

Last time no SEC team had a single preseason #1 vote was 2015 (OSU had all of them)

What I find particularly interesting is the number of “Stanford will upset Miami week 1”, comments out there.
Conversely it we beat them by 30 “it’s just Stanford…”
I really hope the team plays with the focus and intensity of the latter half of last season. Shake some folks up.

The real head scratcher is UGA at 3. They aren’t that good and both OU and LSU are better just in their conference.
Out of curiosity, what makes you believe OU's offense can do enough against UGA or that LSU will be good enough out of the gate to prove to be better?

The bigger question I have in the SEC comes down to whether Texas done enough in the eyes of anyone to believe they can go from being manhandled by UGA to being capable of beating them?

The Texas game vs. UGA was nothing like their game vs. OSU last year. Texas actually, from a play to play, stand point out performed Ohio St but drastically underperformed on high impact plays. The complete opposite occurred with UGA vs. Texas. UGA out performed Texas on literally 6 out of every 10 decisive snaps. Pretty **** dominant.

I think OU is a top 5 team. Mateer played injured last year and they were still a playoff team. Their defense is loaded a well.

LSU is a bit more of a a question mark but they already had talent in place and had a huge portal haul. Let’s see how quickly Lane settles in but he gave the conference fits at Ole Miss of all places.

UGA’s previous major advantage was and overwhelming talent advantage and that just isn’t there anymore and their offense isn’t built for the modern game without that talent discrepancy.

Also for the record, I believe we are a top 3 team at worst going into the year.

UGA's major advantage at the lines still exist. While OU's D-Line can absolutely hang with UGA and give them issues, I still believe, UGA's offense can muster enough points against Oklahoma. On the flip side, the advantage UGA has at defensive vs. OU's offense is overall greater.

I could easily see UGA winning a 24-13 type of game and don't forget, they play OU in Athens.
