He’d be a fool to make that move and would likely take a 2 million dollar pay cut compared to his current market rate.

Oregon is a much much better school than Miami at this point. You guys need to get with reality. Last week was the final nail in our coffin.
Disagree big time. We are going to get nailed many more times before it’s all said and done.

His wife wants to come back home , that would be our only hope. If he doesn’t have Miami in his contract I seriously doubt he leaves. Unless the same bot member wants to eat the buyout.

I blame FSU for us having no realistic chance of hiring cristobal now. If they hadn’t hired willy, cristobal wouldn’t be HC right now with that expensive *** extension. Even if we fired Mandy we couldn’t afford him. Fack the noles

Never mind the money! They have the best facilities a marketing machine, especially on the west. You can be in LA and see billboards for Oregon football. I'm sorry but the realization that some of you dont understand Miami football will never be on the early 2000 levels when you factor in everything. They have won conference titles been to the playoffs and won the Rose Bowl recent years. We only won one bowl game in the last 15 years or so.

The only way Mario becomes coach is by two situations.
1 Temple coach
2. On the current failing staff.

@SWFLHurricane why did Cristobal leave after a week under Al Golden?
Someone said it on CIS and I can't remember everything but it had something to do with Golden and staff getting in his face for punking someone on another staff over a recruit.
That, and he saw the Sh*tshow that's also known as Al Golden and his recruiting....Mario was a GA under Butch, so in ref to recruiting, I'll roll with Mario...

Once again- with the new contract Cristobal currently makes 4.5 million per year. Diaz makes about 3.5 million year. Richt made 4.5 million per year 3 years ago AND they were going to give him another 1.5 million for an OC. Oregon's tax rate for salaries over 2.5 million is 10%.

Florida has no state income tax. 4.5 million in Oregon means roughly 4 million in Miami. Miami already would have paid considerably more for Richt+OC than giving Cristobal 5 million per year. There would be no pay cut.

Look at it from Cristobal's point of view.
"I love the Canes, and had a great time. But what do they have to offer?. Where I am in Oregon, I can watch them on T. V, and wish them luck. Oh Hon check our account on the latest deposit so we can look at some new investments, with my Oregon ducks contract. ". Good luck Miami, I have so many good memories.
See ya.

Understood. Looking at the tax advantages all Miami needs is offer Mario $5M plus bonuses and we’re all set. Same with selected assistants who might come with him.

Who is paying the 80% buyout on a new 6-year contract worth $27M (signed in December 2020), not including some assistants? The Souffeer (sp?) family was willing to pay $10M three years ago. Would they double up now?

"Oregon Coach Mario Cristobal had been mentioned as a candidate for the vacant Auburn job, but the third-year coach of the Ducks will be staying in Eugene. Athletic director Rob Mullens announced Thursday that Cristobal and Oregon agreed to a contract extension through the 2025 season. A one-year extension will be added to the contract if Cristobal wins the Pac-12 North or wins nine regular-season games in one of the years on the deal. The new contract will pay Cristobal an average of $4.55 million annually. He will make $3.2 million in 2020 and his paycheck will increase annually through 2025, when he will make $5 million."

Cristobal made $3.2 million in 2020. Diaz made more than Cristobal last year and they are likely making about the same this season. Before Blake James gave Richt a contract extension he was already making 4 million per year.

You'd have to be an idiot to think Richt took a pay cut in his contract extension, he likely had it bumped up to somewhere between 4.5-5 million per year. Again, 3 years ago Miami was paying Mark Richt more than Cristobal will be making under his new contract, even with all that Nike money. Please stop with the "pay cut" stupidity. That "Miami is too poor" ship sailed a long time ago.

The six-year, $27 million contract will run through the 2025 season and is funded through private athletic gifts. Cristobal’s salary will increase from approximately $2.7 million to $4.3 million in January, and the Ducks coach will earn an average of $4.55 million during the term.

Yes, Mario's average salary under the new contract funded by private athletic gifts (read: Nike money) would still be less than Richt's average salary nearly 3 years ago under the terms of his extension (especially when you factor in taxes).
