Practice - Day 5

Chad Thomas was a 3-4 DE last year and he's not listed at DT this year.
that is because he is gonna play s de. in the 4-3 with quan , mike smith demitrius Jackson being the wde or edge rusher in the 4-3 McIntosh is moving from a 3-4 de to a 4-3 dt, he will probably be the under tackle who plays over a guard while Norton is the nt in the 4-3 and plays over center.

its like the 3-4 spot that kamula played some 3-4 de;s are just defacto tackles but not all.

Mike Smith is playing mlb.

I've never seen so much hate for a returning 1,000 yard back. Wtf? I don't need a burner. Y'all are obsessed with that because you can't stop comparing him to Cook. He's not Cook. He is someone that can fit through holes and pick up hidden yardage. He's also someone that can catch out of the backfield and make people miss in space. I'm not getting the hate here.

There's a huge difference between "hate" and thinking that a guy could be a lot more effective at a lighter weight. Stop being dramatic.

effective at a lighter weight really? gaining weight at rb is all about being able to take the pounding. the top backs are usually 215 or above in nfl the under guys are 3rd down specialists. he wants to be an everydown back. as long as he doesn't lose his quickness not speed quickness and his hops he will be fine.

There's plenty of great backs at 185-200 weight. It's all about what your body and frame can carry without taking away explosion / speed . Yearby should never be over 205. Ever .

If the coaches think he should, then yes, he should. Duke did a very similar thing to be able to take more of a beating.

Now...you give me an all-star wrecking ball OL that opens up holes all day for
burners to go untouched...fine, but that is hardly the case here.

You'd probably bulk Darren Sproles to 220 pounds.

Yearby's strength is his quickness, which he has lost due to bad weight.

So tell me when you've seen yearby display his quickness at this weight?

Cuz i can bet your life you're talking out of your ***.

None of you have any idea how Yearby is running now.

My god our local media is trash

Nothing else going on at the University of Miami today

Not defending the media covering this team but what else do you want them to do? They post a video of the interviews after practice. I don't even think the media gets to watch more than a few minutes.

In agreement.
I mean, it's not as if we have new coaches installing new schemes on both sides of the ball with backups and new players stepping for
graduated players or anything of that nature.
Yeah, that's the ticket.

215 or 207 ....Yearby should be hitting the sled and doing some band work to get his speed up.

Brian Westbrook , Barry Sanders, Warrick Dunn and many other good NFL back were in the high 190's , low 200's. Let's not act like you need to be 215

to be an everydown back in today's nfl u do. sanders went 200 easy. he ws just short at 5-8, westbrook was a good rb in a passing system. dunn was never the workhorse back. yes he got his share of carries but mike alsott got the most carries in tampa as long as gaining weight is done right and he doesn't lose his quickness he will be fine.

not saying all back have to be 215 but in nfl if u want to get 300 carries a year u better be more then 180. 190. yearby is 5-10. 5-11 going 210 won't hurt him any. as long as it doesn't take his quickness. yearby was never built on speed, he was always a quick cut back runner. as long as that doesn't change his weight shouldn't affect that.

Yearby gonna be even slower then last year

Why do ya'll keep piling on Yearby? He put up 1k w a horrid OL, and a predictable, simpleton offensive play caller. Dude was solid for us last year. No, he's not Dalvin Cook, but who cares? He was a consistent bright spot last year.

Barry Sanders playing weight was 203 which is low 200's, Westbrook was a thousand yard back, that was one of the higher backs in touches ( receptions +rushes) , Dunn had multiple thousand yard seasons , and almost a 11,000 career rushing yards that's a lot off miles for a rb that was 187 pounds. Top 20 all time .

Walter Payton was 200 pounds ( arguably the greatest ). And was one of the most physical backs ever .

Like I said lets not act like you need to be 215-220 , that's dumb.

Yearby should never be over 205, he's short and doesn't have a huge lower half. He was noticeably slower last year , he was carrying too much bad weight and looks even bigger this year . That takes away from his strength as a runner.

Also Jamal Charles is a whopping 199 pounds, and he's considered elite . I guess if he was the ( 215 standard ) his Acl's would holdup .
