I find it kind of odd... Just a few weeks ago he was saying he doesn't care about what position he plays, now this comes out he was worried about Golden taking more than two backs... I mean i see what Powell did, but at the same time you can't blame a coach for trying to better his team? Not sayin i agree with Golden but seriously you stock pile talent wherever you go and worry about who goes where later.
BTW for anybody that cares.

A guy on another UF board that I trust and talk to off the board said that it wasn't just all about Golden and Penn State though that had quite a bit to do with it. He said Powell and their fam felt disrespected by Golden because they were told Miami would take two backs....and that was supposed to be Yearby and Powell. Then Golden was camped out at Cook's house, is still trying to make a late push for Sony, and is looking at some other backs. Supposedly the Powell's pressed Golden about it on his in-home a few weeks back and Golden told the Powell's they were recruiting Cook as a corner and the plan was still the same. But there was so much info. out there to the contrary so they thought Golden was bluffing them.

At that point I guess Powell reached out a little to UF's staff especially when he found out Miami was going all in on Cook. The Penn State thing I guess was the last straw because he tried to reach Golden for a few days and couldn't get a hold of them. By that point he had been contacting T-Rob on the regular and that's what led to the flip. TIFWIW.

Maybe it was more about Powell and his family seeing what a lying weasel Golden was, and they lost trust for him. Then, to top it all off, Al went dark for 3 days chasing another job while he was telling Powell a few days earlier what a great place UM was for him. Powell saw through all of Al's weak **** and shut him down.

FWIW

Dieter Kurtenbach ‏@dkurtenbach 8m - I’m not surprised that Powell flipped, but I am surprised that he flipped to Florida. Didn’t know he had a strong relationship w/ that staff

Dieter Kurtenbach ‏@dkurtenbach 12m - There was something irrevocably broken in the relationship between UM and Brandon Powell, who doesn’t want to be a DB in college.

If Golden really told Powell's family that we were recruiting Cook at CB and expected them to believe that...my God.

Sadly, after this week I wouldn't put that past him.

Dieter doesn't know ****.

I blame this on the message board porsters who were going crazy over Dalvin Cook. Nice job, losers.

These rotten fans and their foul mouths cost us Nigel too. Al's going to overcome the fans' antics and replace Powell and Nigel with better players. Watch.

This one hurts a lot, really nothing else to say. This group of coaches is supposed to be ace recruiters and the class is losing some key pieces.

I just saw Al in a nasty fight with the mailman out in front of Yearby's house. I think I heard Al telling him that Yearby moved and that he left no forwarding address. Then, the mailman said, "I see Joe sitting in the living room right behind you." Then, Al grabbed a handful of letters addressed to Yearby and took off waddling down the street.

"Spoke briefly with Powell’s dad this morning before our call got interrupted. Wasn’t able to finish the conversation but here is what we discussed so far.

Seems like Powell’s recruitment to Miami, from their point of view, always had some minor hurdles and that became frustrating. Apparently there was a holdup in signing his financial aid paperwork in December (same paperwork that Dalvin Cook, Trevor Darling, Kc McDermott and others all signed allowing for unlimited contact) along with the rumors of Golden’s departure to Penn State and the delay enrolling early. A

All of that made Powell think that maybe he should be somewhere else."

Amateur hour.

There's gotta be more than that.

But but but it's the fans fault.

Wait, so it was a bad idea for Golden to interview with his alma mater/dream job and disappear for three days?

Shocking.
