Exactly. If they don't then we're not really serious about football and he won't have real success here anyway. If UM keeps their promise to Mario, don’t see him ever leaving.. if they don’t, then…..
KiffinOther than Dabo and Mario, who else would be a Bama target?
I don't disagree with you. But I am also not naive to the fact this is a business. I absolutely agree that there are a host of things that need to happen for Mario to be on a short list, but-assuming those things happen for argument sake-if Mario is a candidate, he takes that call. I don't think he'd be inclined to dip in that situation, but if Bama says we'll double your salary and your current resources, I don't think you dismiss something like that out of hand.I think the disconnect here is that you guys are looking at Mario now as Sabag's successor vs Mario actually being legitimately successful at the University of Miami and THEN being courted by Baga.
In this era of college football and with the people at our school having finally risen from a slumber about what CFB means to a school and to revenue, we're simply not going to get outbid (by a college program) for one guy that holds one job- and especially when that guy has an emotional bond to this program AND will have just had real success here (which would negate the "well oiled" machine allure even beyond the lunacy of being the guy to replace a legend).
I'm going to stand by this. The ONLY place a University of Miami that is legitimately serious about being a big boy in college football is losing most coaches to AND especially someone like Mario is the National Football League- and that'll be for reasons bigger than money.
But everyone says he's trash lol....when those pundits know and everyone else knows he's great hes great. No one was asking Manny to HC bama when Saban leaves. The Athletic was speculating on Saban’s successor. Mentioned Dabo first then Mario:
“Here’s another name to keep in mind: Mario Cristobal. Miami’s new coach left a strong impression during his four years in Tuscaloosa as offensive line coach (2013-16). He’s won big at Oregon, and if he can turn around the Hurricanes and the timing is just right, don’t be surprised if the Tide put the full-court press on him. Of course, Miami is home for Cristobal, too, which could complicate matters, especially if he returns the Canes to national prominence.”
Great to see the respect he gets. Josh Pate and Finebaum have both alluded to this also.
Dabo was a WR at Bama, so returning to his alma mater is reasonable. Mario is at his alma mater and I have no idea why the logic exists that says he'd leave that and his hometown for Bama.
I'd take that call too if I'm him. I take ANY call like that on that level because the part that you mentioned about this being a business IS true and you simply use that to get more money from the place where you want to be when you want it.I don't disagree with you. But I am also not naive to the fact this is a business. I absolutely agree that there are a host of things that need to happen for Mario to be on a short list, but-assuming those things happen for argument sake-if Mario is a candidate, he takes that call. Manny slippin slide diazOther than Dabo and Mario, who else would be a Bama target?
"Which complicates matters." Arrogant asswipes, you think? Cristobal is home. End of story. Sure, they can roll out a Brink's truck but then in 5 years so can Miami. The Athletic was speculating on Saban’s successor. Mentioned Dabo first then Mario:

Arrogance. There are alums but I am not sure I ever have heard a head coach who firmly loves his alma mater like Cristobal not since Bear Bryant.Dabo was a WR at Bama, so returning to his alma mater is reasonable. Mario is at his alma mater and I have no idea why the logic exists that says he'd leave that and his hometown for Bama.
Honestly I cannot blame him for not wanting to work for the ****show we had in place at the time......He’s never done that before.
Why would Mario leave Miami to go to Bama when he can create his own dynasty here? I would say no chance in ****.
