I'm disgusted with so called "amateur" athletics. When some schools are allowed to flat out pay for kids, while others aren't, it's a disgusting advantage and double standard. I am ready to see a minor league football system put into place, where the players good enough to earn money right out of high school can go and earn a living right away. It's criminal they are forced to make money for these "schools" that are no more interested in them for education than they are reporting themselves for the major violations they are committing. Let them skip college and earn a living, just like every other human being out there who has a skill they can profit from. I promise you, minor league football would make enough money to sustain itself. These kids who have a short shelf life should be able to earn money right away, not play for a college for 3 years before being allowed to enter the pros. That's absurd.
Also, for those actually concerned about the education they'd be missing out on, just put a clause into EVERY contract that they will have a college education paid for when they end their football career. At that point they will actually GET AN EDUCATION, because they wouldn't be being exploited by these so called educational institutions just to make money for their athletic department.
That's my rant for the day.
