You can really tell JW20 has slimmed down and he looks more explosive. He definitely needed to cut weight at his height otherwise he was growing into a LB/DE. Definitely good work in the off-season
anybody a link to post game Jimbo press conference.
A&M receivers seemed to have footing issues a couple of times during the game, perhaps they should use some of that NIL money on better cleats.
I believe Jimbo pulled a Mario of last year and called a TO right before that play after they had already lined up to go for it.Another critical point in the game that shouldn’t be overlooked is the 4th and 1 attempt by A&M near our goal line where their OL jumped and forced a FG instead.
They were moving and gaining momentum and it sure felt like they’d convert the down and pick up 7 to take the lead. Instead, after the FG we still led by 1 and it felt like a small win right there to keep our momentum going. The rest speaks for itself!
If A&M finds a way out of his contract, he will have a job in auctioneering to fallback to.I cannot listen to him for long. He talks so freakin fast with that good ol' boy twang.... Would make me nuts on a regular basis...
I agree with what ur saying I’m just saying I’m not worried about him he will continue to grow he did very good against maybe the best DL he will see this year. Clemson and FSU is up there but he should continue to progress with snapsHere’s the thing about Holding penalties, they can be very costly in critical moments.
Imagine we’re on the road at Chapel Hill or Doak & we’re down by a score in the 3rd or 4th quarter, it’s 3rd & manageable, TVD hits one of the WR’s for 50yd TD, but it gets called back for holding, not it’s 3rd & long & instead of getting a first down the Defense brings the house & it’s an incomplete pass or a sack. Then we have to punt the ball & lose a possession in a critical moment that could’ve put us over the edge to win.
Point being, it was okay yesterday because we were on fire as a whole & essentially nothing was going to keep us from winning that game, but on the road in a hostile environment in scenarios & circumstances that are less favorable, holding calls can absolutely kill drives, kill momentum & even take potential points off the board.
It’s something he has to be aware of & get corrected. I understand he’s a TF, but there’s a standard that has to be upheld, because trust me if it’s not fixed now it can be a problem when it matters the most.
The talent is there for sure, QB was decent enough, I think the 5 star back looks legit, I think they overrated their WR, they are good but they only cooked New Mexico with some of the worst DB play I have seen, disrespecting wr squads like washington and such saying they are one of best in nation. Their Dline is full of monstars (but scheme might hold them back and I dont see an edge demon), edgerrin cooper is a dude, their db squad is a weakness after having #1 pass defense, I think it was under talked about point they lost a couple to NFL and the backups who should of inherited the roles transferred to LSU, Duke, Houston. They starting Boston College nickle on outside and UNC corner seem like a bust.. Jimbo got some splainin to do lolNice write up. A couple of thoughts though on your take of 8 & 4. You basically call them overrated and a “paper tiger” SEC team. I guess we will see how that pans out. I think they are definitely a top 25 caliber opponent and ranked right around where they should have been.
I read another thread that this game felt different than that Florida win under Golden. I agree there. That did turn out to be a bad Florida team and it turned out we were not really that good either,
So, in the end, your 8 & 4 comments seem to somewhat diminish what should be taken away as a quality win. Do you see this a quality win or no? I think we are very underrated so see that being more the story than us beating an overrated team.
It’s a quality win because we always lose these games & TAMU has a talented roster by rankings standpoint.Nice write up. A couple of thoughts though on your take of 8 & 4. They may not beat a good team but to your point, they have the talent and that talent beat some "good" teams last year. Step in the right directionIt’s a quality win because we always lose these games & TAMU has a talented roster by rankings standpoint.
But they’re not a good team; They went 5-7 last year & during the Jumbo era have averaged 5 losses a season.
They’re not Bama or UGA; they’re not even LSU or Ole Miss tbh. They’re perceived as a “good” team because of the SEC narratives, but in reality they haven’t shown that they’re good.
Two things can be true at the same time; TAMU is & has been overrated & it was still a good win for us because we normally lose these OOC games. My comments about TAMU doesn’t diminish anything, it just puts in perspective where both teams are as a program.
It doesn’t matter either way, as long as we win our games & handle our business we’ll be properly placed.
TAMU doesn’t need to be good in order to feel good for beating them. They were a sh*tty team last year & we still lost.
For some reason I was thinking he is a slot CB.Jaden already plays Safety.
But the issue with Richard is that he just doesn’t have the Speed for CB.
He plays some at Nickel/STAR, but he’s more of a Safety than a pure Corner. For some reason I was thinking he is a slot CB.
I forgot.
