Post Game - Mario

You can argue it’s the correct way to build. Just lots of you want instant gratification.

The team is better than last year. Wasn’t it a blowout at home? Had a chance to win on the road. We are better.

I see being ****ed at wasting a good D or Borregales or even some of this Oline. But if he does it right, we just get better. The key will be keeping guys from leaving and pulling better kids.

The posts on this board are so negative he lost most of you. Yet the team plays hard for him. Haven’t quit yet. (May now that we have no qb)
Agree.
Mario is here whether we like it or not.

It’s obvious our players haven’t quit.
I’m not going to either.

A dumb question? It's a question every sports reporter in attendance should be chomping at the bit to ask! It needs to be asked again and again and again until he gives an honest answer.
TVD is broken and Emory is too inexperienced and probably not talented enough. If Mario said that would you feel better? Anyone with eyes can see this

We’re not winning another game this season.
Even with a great defense, this offense is so bad, they can’t score more than 20 pts.
Just awful. I was hopeful when Mario was hired but his offenses are just terrible. He thinks it still early nineties. I don’t think we’ll ever even have a mediocre offense with Mario in charge.

Like what? If the QB play was competent the WRs and TEs would look better, the running game better, etc
Like being more creative with the running game. All we do is run up the middle. There were many times when FSU was sitting on an obvious run up the middle and left the middle of the field wide open but Mario would rather just run up the middle and get blown up for a 3 yard loss. We might be weak at QB but we don't use any of our speed to our advantage. We never direct snap to Brashard or run a reverse with Brashard to take advantage of FSU over pursuit. We don't run any jet sweeps or end arounds with Brashard. The way we underuse Brashard Smith is Criminal! Brashard should be getting more snaps at WR.

Mario/Dawson have done nothing to incorporate the elite speed of a healthy Chris Johnson Jr. There were many times where they could have brought in Jacurri Brown to run Wildcat or QB draw or here's one....maybe have Brown play action and throw deep. There are so many different route concepts that go unused. No wheel routes to RBs no swing passes. Since we are so good at drawing defenders into the box why don't we ever pitch it out to a RB to get him around the corner? You said TEs but McCormick is in there most of the time. Riley Williams down the seam or Riley Williams on a drag route or maybe a TE bubble screen when we have numbers out wide.

Here's another thing. If Mario wants to run and be physical and conservative so freaking bad then go all out. Instead of 2TE bring in 2 extra OL or go with 6 OL and go unbalanced. There is so much more we could do but we don't even try. You have to shoot every bullet that you have in the chamber.

Said that multiple times, the middle being wide open, would’ve thought a tight end would be a great asset for that but… well… you know…

2nd half, have no idea why it took them this long but they finally started run blitzing our usual inside zone on first down. Shut off the run game.

A simple rpo hitch and u can get easy yards from them doing that but no lets just run right at them lol.

Dawson entire script has been mainly,

Inside zone/run on 1st down
Run or tunnel screen on 2nd down
Slants or go/ curls with an option route for the slot on 3rd down

This has been it. Teams have adjusted and used our tendencies against us to get us off schedule and people wonder why the offense doesn’t look the same from the first four weeks lol

Coaches start adjusting around mid season. That’s why real play callers have a whole plethora of wrinkles waiting to use later in the year. Dawson emptied the bag the first few games and now he’s left running stuff I don’t even recognize from him. I know this will sound crazy but the offense now might look more prehistoric than Gattis lol

If rumors come to fruition and he leaves, who is coming here to be OC? 3rd guy in 3 years is a tough look.

Good post. That's exactly what his script has been all year. How difficult is it to mix in some outside zone? Is it that hard? Is it so complex that we need an entire off-season to install runs to the outside?
