Possible Miami vs Bama matchup??

As with Nebraska in 1984.

The problem is our OL is weak sauce. Bama’s DL would feast on Zion and the callow young lads on that untested line.

I'm sure there's a logical breakdown in my thinking here, but even though I didn't want to play Clemson in the ACCCHGM because I wanted to avoid a beatdown, and wanted to end on a 6 game win streak, I actually am not against us playing BAMA. The OB is a premiere bowl and BAMA is still the premiere brand in CFB at the moment, and even though I'm not for moral victories, I could see a strong showing, even an L, still benefitting us going into recruiting. Now, an embarrassing blowout loss and I will have second thoughts...
 
Moot point on Bama anyway.

The CFBPO will implement an exception this year, go to 5 teams, and place the Tide in that spot.
 
After the game, Enos would be begging Saban to take him back.

We really have people thinking we would beat them? There is always a chance, that's why you play the game, but come on. In a couple of weeks many of you went from us not winning another game to bring on Bama. Silly.

Bama would love it though. It would basically be a recruiting trip while essentially playing us, the equivalent of their scout team.

I selected 61-6 half in jest, because that was a score of an Alabama-Syracuse Orange Bowl sometime in the 1950s.

Anyway, I’d favor Bama by about 26 if Tua’s not playing, and 30 if Tua’s playing. Both spreads would be about a TD higher if Saban wasn’t such a ***** whenever he’s routing a team.
 
I'm still wondering what would even have to happen to get us to the OB.

I'm guessing:
We need to win out - convincingly
Pitt beats VT, loses to BC
VT loses to Pitt, beats UVA, gets crushed by Clemson
UVA beats Liberty, loses to VT

This would leave:
Miami 8-4 (with wins over the 2 other 8-4 teams)
Pitt 8-4
UVA 8-4
VT (Coastal champs) 8-5

I'm not sure we get a shot over a team with more wins, but if it falls like this, I say we go. So 7 games would need to go our way. Unlikely, but not unheard of. Not sure any would be ranked to get the auto-bid, unless we can somehow sneak in riding a 5 game win streak.

Actually, it would be 9 games if you count us routing both FIU and Duke.

I consolidated the UVA-VT and VT-Pitt games - they're each listed twice in my post since I broke it out by team, but they're really just one game each. So it really is just 7.

Now that I think about it, UVA doesn't need to beat Liberty - I just had that chalked up as a given. So really only 6 games need to go our way.
 
Alabama would probably be deflated if they lost to Auburn and ended up in the OB. I doubt Jeudy would play in it.

No it’s not ***** to tell it like it is. It’s ***** to duck a team because they are better.
