MR is full of sh*t if he suspends Bruce for what he did in HS. Sorry, but that would be pure BS
Again...like it or not, when an athlete submits that valid LOI and its accepted by the University, they [both parties] agreed to the fact that said athlete is now a public representative of the University 24/7.
That's a big concept for anyone to grasp at that young and immature age, even bigger and more difficult to live up to.
Tough but true.
Go Richt...Go Canes...
Actually, they are not accepted when they sign LOIs. It will be utterly BS if Bruce is suspended for an isolated HS incident.
MR can miss me with that Holy Holy crap. Just Coach and Win!
Beer...I think you didnt understand what I said...
the LOIs have a to part "test" to be valid...
1) athlete must submit a signed and valid LOI within a proscribed time period (they are variable); and
2) the gaining university accepts and validates receipt of the LOI and then reports that on to the NCAA within a proscribed time period (they too are variable circumstances depending)
Bruce and UM completed
#1 and
#2 , thus both agreeing at that moment that Bruce was a representative of UM in the role and resposibility of a UM student athlete (and high profile as added measure).
That doesn't mean UM accepted him to the University--although they did separately without question. As strange as it sounds, the LOI process is disconnected from the actual application/admissions process to the University itself. Regardless if Bruce plays football or not, he can still be a student at UM if he qualifies and.can afford to.attend.
I didnt say or.imply he was accepted by UM with the LOI process...my.bad on confusion if thats what was communicated...
I will.disagree however, on the just win. While satisfying as it might be to see "W" after "W" rack up through the seasons, I find it very laudable and admirable (and I dont agree with Richt's religious intentions) of Richt's desire to also produce the best and most productive human beings from.the program.he leads as well. Its very responsible to.society, to those athletes, and their parents that, within appropriate bounds, he also.takes that mission on.
My opinion doesn't make.me.more "right" than you for sure, just I happen to be a supporter of Richt' s reasonable efforts to.instill discipline.
Its a foundation that will.consistently make a.winning program.go.
