Position switches

P Brian Monroe to WR
What Year Is It GIF

SJ to H-back full-time. Too undersized for center but would be a force blocking on the edge.
Wyman to slot receiver. Too dynamic with the ball in his hands to not be on offense.
Redding to slot corner. Too small for traditional safety.
Lofton to FB. His best position once he leans out a little.
Damari to slot corner. He would kill it as a slot corner.
Chukwurah to SDE. Has the twitch and athleticism.

Jimmy Johnson was well known for moving lighter quicker players into front seven positions. Safeties became linebackers. Linebackers became defensive ends. Not the other way around.

In more recent history, Miami has had a lot of trouble trying to turn undersized pass rushers into stand up linebackers. Our most recent flop in that area would be Malik Bryant, who got moved back to defensive end and then transferred. Mo Toure did make a nice transition from pass rushing outside linebacker to a more traditional standup linebacker position last year though so it does happen.
All true!

Generally speaking, position switches are misses a lot more often than hits. The hits are the exceptions. I would feel better about position switches during the first year rather than in the 3rd year of a player. We'll see - we need the bodies at TE.
