Patterson has no clue how to put points on the board.

Fuente ran that offense when they were pillaging the Mountain West. After Fuente left and they joined the Big 12 they struggled mightily to put up points. It was really bad. That was until Patterson hired a couple of Air Raid guys in Doug Meachum and Sonny Combie to run his offense. Now that's a credit to Patterson for recognizing the issue and fixing it, but his specialty is defense.

I am quite aware of his defensive prowess, but as you stated yourself. It was Patterson that made the hires of all three OC and the direction in which he wanted to go. Patterson ran teams can put up points with the best of them and play defense as well. Granted people can look at this season and try to punch holes in his defense, but they would also have to take into account the mass season ending injuries he has had on that side of the ball to his best players.

Patterson offers the best of both worlds at Miami if he was/is an option.
 
I really think Patterson is the best coach in college football, no question. I'd go 1. Patterson 2. Saban 3. Meyer, if there was any chance he leaves TCU we'd have to outbid everyone. Someone(USC, LSU) will throw him 6+ million which we will not match. Why do people think we can land this guy?
