Players and plays I'm most excited to watch against Bethune

My focus will be on the DL

With so many new guys coming into the fold I’m really excited to watch this group

Not sure what we will see called on offense these next two weeks. I cringe at the word “vanilla” but we should still get some kind of idea of the direction we are going

But I want to see the DL group dominate this game

DBs….and WRs…

If we get passed on or can’t beat the BC DBs, that’ll be upsetting…

I would love to see a dynamic player in the return game. X is your steady guy who won't break many. TS has potential but I don't know that he has that short burst speed and wiggle to be a dynamic return guy. Curtis I'm curious about b/c he has some serious speed. We'll see if it's more straight line rather than change of direction/wiggle speed.

This may sound outside the box but I am curious about the halftime score.

These kinds of games are essentially always blowouts as they should be.

But to me, a halftime blowout is a far different signal than a final score blowout.

A halftime blowout signifies a team ready to play and properly executing against an inferior opponent. It comes with the benefit of being able to play a lot of people and protecting your starters early.

A second half blowout after the opponent has hung around for three quarters is usually an indication of poor execution, coaching and focus. Eventually, the opponent just gets overwhelmed on depth and level of talent but it doesn't really speak well of the team at that point.

We have had way to many of the latter in recent years.

I don't care it its running, passing, pass rush or coverage. I just want to see a well-oiled machine taking care of business right out of the gate.

I say put something like this on film. There's already a flash of it from last year's Pitt game. Emphasize it. Feed in to the idea that Gattis doesn't use players outside the hashes. Then go to College Station and run drags and crosses behind them. Let Key Smith and others run free across the field. Shock TAMU. Recruit their commits. Steal their wives. Grow the empire.
Jimbo knows it all too well

Steed, Flagg and Ragone -- they all get hated on to various degrees and have younger and more athletic guys behind them, but will they look improved in a new scheme?
Ragone has made a lot of big plays for us, but since he isn't 6'3" 230, and doesn't run a 4.4 40, people think he's trash. I think with good D-line play, our LBs will be the second most improved unit on the team.

OL, DL, and LBs. That's what I want to get a good look at.

We are all going to promise not to overreact to whatever happens tomorrow, right? LOL.
You are so funny. No matter what happens, people will overreact. Win too small, melt down. Win huge, 15-0. Win just about right, 35-45 points, the base is divided into slurpers and mopes all over again. I swear, if you people make me drink my tequila before it's time, I'm gonna be ****ed.

@LuCane, in games like this one and next, don't you think working on our "perceived" weaknesses and protecting our proven assets a good strategy?
Meaning, air it out more and give our WR's repetitions in game situation to improve their hands while limiting our (depleted) RB's carries protecting them form injuries in easily winnable game?
It will also serve to bolster our WR's recruiting efforts showing our targets we do use the passing game heavily in our offense. BC is not a team you have to be "balanced" against. Get from of the game what you want to get. Help the players who need improvement and come out healthy.

Quick scoring using WR's is also good to give our DL more reps since they have to be on the field longer testing our depth there.

Want to see the DL live up to the hype that we’ve heard about throughout camp, specifically Mesidor, Agude and Jackson.

I want to see our OL move people. Having nightmares of years past against G5/FCS level schools where we simply weren’t getting the type of push in the run game that a Miami team should against an overmatched team.

I want to see a WR emerge and play with confidence on the outside. This should be a good opportunity for one of those guys to build on the progress they’ve shown in camp and make plays in a glorified scrimmage.
That’s where I’m at. That DL. I want it to seem like Bethune is playing against NFL Players. I want to actually feel bad at some point.

Well executed vanilla game on both sides of the ball. Fundamentals ... well executed with no goofy penalties. Want to see the 3 deep at every position get snaps and grow in confidence. Score a lot and don't let the opponent score at all.

Haven't heard a single peep about Ragone during camp but I'd imagine some people's head will explode if he touches the field tomorrow.
He‘s been refurbished by Mario…gonna be our secret weapon tomorrow. [Sarcasm in technicolor]

I suppose it depends. In our case, we're implementing a new system. If we know anything from these miserable years, it's that there are some serious ups and downs with new offensive systems, but during the install/implementation phases, you get a decent glimpse of what's to come. That magical "opening up the playbook" isn't usually as drastic as we hope. One of the only coaches who showed something vastly different was Richt, who at one point went 5WR in the middle of the season vs what he had previously done. So I expect them to work on what they think will help them be best prepared for their system to at least be efficient by October. I expect a series of RB passes, as one example.

Everyone will look better with real direction to follow... doesn't mean they'll be All-Americans but they will play better than what we've seen in the past...

62-3…want to see 1st unit, 2nd unit and third unit. Ideally, 1st unit until halftime. 2nd unit all of the third quarter and five minutes into 4th. The 3rd unit to close out the remaining 10 minutes…

And all remain healthy!
