Pitt took a true freshman DB named...

If Richt would just take a nice relaxing Sunday afternoon to sit in front of his TV and watch a Saints, Eagles, Vikings, Rams, Chiefs, Falcons, Patriots... game with a notepad in his lap, he would have enough game planning concepts and play ideas to last him another 30 years.
Nah. He’ll pull out the old projector and watch his offense from the past 30 years and say “I knew these plays worked”

Yep, I said something similar to this during the game Friday night. Our offense looks like a group of guys playing a pick up game in the parking lot. Keep running the same 5 plays over and over regardless of what the defense is doing. No creativity. Little effort to get the ball to our play makers in space.

Been saying this for weeks. We don’t game plan at all. That’s why are 1st half stats are so much worse than our 2nd half, which are terrible also. Can we please hire a competent OC!!

scheme doesn't matter against Duke we will rush for 200 on them, they are physically inferior and one of the worst teams in the ACC, against UVA, BC, Syracuse, NCSt, FSU,VT and Clemson it does

The other coaches also game plan specifically for their opponent that week. Richt all but admitted yesterday and this morning that they just run the plays they think will work in practice and in the game.

There's no scheming to go after an opponent's weakest link. No design to get an explosive X-Factor like JT a mismatch (which truthfully, is **** near anybody in front of him).

It's Pop Warner football.
Made the comment on the gameday board that we were playing sandlot football. The only thing missing was a buttonhook at the fire hydrant.

Please God tell me you didn't just say Schemes don't matter....

...V’Lique Carter, and just got 140 yards on 7 touches from him. Carter was a 3 star DB, and they found a way to use his speed to beat Duke.

Somehow, we can’t find a way to get 5 star freshman Pope any touches. Pitt handed the ball to Carter on sweeps mostly using a version of the Matt Canada offense that he installed prior to leaving.

The scheme and plays make ALL the difference. There’s no reason that with 2 explosive playmakers like Thomas and Pope and even Harley that we can’t get them touches and open up the rest of the run game by making defenses account for them as they motion through the formation.

Some of our dumb fans talk about players not being “ready” or our OL being terrible. Fact is everyone in a busted system looks terrible. Same reason all this dudes who played in Dorito’s defense looked like garbage then looked like good players 6 months later in a system better suited to their talent.

Must be the OL?

I posted this in another thread, but I feel like it's relevant here too.

Rondale Moore 2018 stats: 57 receptions, 728 yards, 7 TDs, 11 rushes, 163 yards, 1 TD
Jeff Thomas 2018 stats: 21 receptions, 432 yards, 3 TDs, 1 rush, 19 yards

Despite our QB inaccuracy, this offense does a ******* pathetic job of getting the ball into our most dynamic playmaker's hands. Look at the stats a true freshman is putting up at Purdue compared to what we're doing with Thomas. It's ridiculous that Thomas is getting so few touches. He literally can't be guarded and we still can't get the ball to him.

Richt's been underutilizing our guys since he's stepped on campus. We had a freak of nature, first round TE in 2016 and he only got 3 receptions a game. Good coaches scheme to get their best playmakers the ball. Here, no matter how good the player is, they're just part of the system. Richt is the Al Golden of offensive play calling.

Man we can go all over college football and find stories like this!! It’s a **** shame our coach thinks we don’t know basic football. He was upset about the way he used kaaya, then last year doing any presnap movement to get the defense to think/confuse and now this!!! I’m done, I pray duke blows us out!!! We had a chance to run throw college football with the talent the guy has and is putting together, but we are looking like an average to below average team. We have our big wrs running bubble screens being backed with our little receivers too many times. Stuff like that

Savanna St., who we outweighed by 50lbs per man, pushed our OL around a good portion of the game. A true freshman got I believe 5 sacks in one scrimmage against our OL. Take nothing for granted

If that’s not al Golden!!! I’m sick!

He already takes nice relaxing day's off during the season, like how we used 50% of our allotted Orange Bowl practice opportunities. Def glad we kicked that fg against Clemson though. He's a ******* loser.

Nevermind Pope. The point will remain the same...but I am absolutely disgusted by the lack of Jeff Thomas on our offense.

21 catch, 432 yards 20.6 ypc 3 TD

BY COMPARISON...other sophomore wide receivers

Alabama's trio

Jerry Jeudy 31/777/25.1/10
Devonta Smith 21/409/19.5/3
Henry Ruggs III 24/444/18.5/7

Laviska Shenault, Colorado 60/780/13.0/6
CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma 34/674/19.8/9

Are you f'n kidding me? Thomas is as good, if not better than all of them and has the production of Alabama's 2nd/3rd option. A fraction of the shares of Shenault or Lamb.

Embarrassing.

I've laid a ton of blame on the OL, and I stand by that...they just aren't good.

The problem is less that
scheme doesn't matter against Duke we will rush for 200 on them, they are physically inferior and one of the worst teams in the ACC, against UVA, BC, Syracuse, NCSt, FSU,VT and Clemson it does

Have you lost your **** mind? Don't answer that.

What have you seen this year that makes you think we can just out talent anyone? Do we not have more talent than UVA? How about BC, were they more talented than us?

Anything's possible, but there's literally no reason at all to think we'll be able to push Duke around. None.

As bad as this team is playing...from top to bottom...

Richt's inability to get Jeff Thomas the ball is one of the most tell-tale signs that he's clueless.
There's countless OC's around the country that would kill to have a kid like Thomas.
